"I..it...it's you, Bats," Clark replied, not meeting his eyes.
Bruce was shocked. He came here tonight, planning not to make the other man leave until he told him what was wrong and got a love confession.
"What?" Bruce asked, his eyes searching Superman's face, for what he didn't know.
"It's you," Superman said, looking him right in the eye. "I felt that spark with you, but I knew you wouldn't be interested in me, so I dated Lois,"
Bruce blinked at him, tracing the droplets of rainwater running down his face from his hair. "Why didn't you tell me?" He asked Superman, making him sigh and look away.
"Because I didn't want to ruin our friendship, Bats. I accepted that I had to love you enough to be your friend without getting anything in return," Superman told him.
Bruce felt a bit of guilt form in his stomach. "How long?" He asked, knowing he would probably hate the answer he got in return.
"About a year after we met," Came the reply, and the guilt grew.
Superman watched as the Cape Crusader shuffled his feet looking uncomfortable. "What if I don't want to be your friend?" Batman asked, and Clark almost cried.
He had ruined it, he told Batman his feelings, and now he didn't want to be around him anymore. "That's okay, Bats. We don't have to be," he said, putting on a fake smile.
Batman stepped closer to him, his eyes traveling all over Clark's face. Then he kissed him. Batman kissed Superman. Clark stood there shocked before finally kissing back. Batman pulled away and stared at him.
"Supes' I'm so sorry, I'm such a damn coward," He whispered, now Clark was confused. "I don't want to be your friend, I want to be more. I loved you since we met, I was just too much of a coward to tell you. If I just told you you won't have your heart broken right now," He finished caressing Superman's face.
"Bat..." Clark started but was cut off.
"Bruce, my name is Bruce Wayne," Batman said, making Clark smile.
"Clark Kent," He replied, blushing when he realized he had met Bruce Wayne a few times before.
"Let's go to my place, get out of this rain. As much as you're beautiful with the rainwater running down your face, we need to get you dry,"

Clark was returning to work after six months of leave and he was happy. He had enjoyed the past five and a half months with Bruce and he had grown close to Alfred also and had grown fond of the butler.
Clark entered the building, took the elevator to his floor, and exited. He saw the usual people there and two he hadn't seen before. He headed straight to his station and began to work on the pile of papers that had gathered over the past few months.
It was lunchtime before Clark finally stopped working and sat back in his chair. He looked down at the ring on his finger and smiled. Bruce had proposed to him three days ago, and of course, Clark accepted.
He heard the clicking of heels coming towards him but didn't look up. "Clark," a feminine voice called his name. He turned in his chair to see Lois standing behind him. Her baby bump was visible in the blouse she wore.
"Lois, how are you?" Clark said, smiling brightly at her.
"Clark, I've been good. Look, I wanted to say sorry. What I did was wrong, and I was hoping you'd give me another chance. It won't happen again," Lois said, shocking Clark. Did she really think he would take her back after she got herself pregnant while they were dating?
"You're right; it won't," a voice said from behind Lois. They turned their attention to the person and saw Bruce standing there in a suit.
Bruce stepped around the pregnant lady and moved towards Clark. He kissed him briefly on the lips before turning his attention to Lois. "It won't happen again because he is my fiance. We will be getting married as soon as Clark wants and it would serve you well to stay away from him,"
Lois blushed and hurried away. "Why are you here?" Clark asked, glancing up at the man.
"I came to take you to lunch. I mean unless you have work to do..." Bruce said, nervously making Clark smile.
"I love you, you know that," Clark told him.
"I love you too. Now let's go feed you," Bruce said, pulling Clark out of the building. Clark was happy now, truly happy, and he knew for sure this time would last forever.
