Two weeks later Clark was hovering over the city when he heard a scream. Focusing on it, he zoomed out toward the ocean. When he got there the sight shocked him. There was a fishing boat and a yacht. The people on the yacht, a man and a woman, who he guessed screamed, were trying to pull something out of the water and away from the fishing boat.

The fishing boat, with more people, harpoons, and arrows, fired wildly. Moving fast, Clark grabbed the tip of the fishing boat and pulled away before using his surprise strength to push it far out to sea. Turning back to the yacht, they looked down into the water, where an object could be seen going deeper into the ocean.

He flew over to the yacht. "Are you ok?" He asked the couple.

"Yes, save him please," The woman said, and Clark dived into the water. He swam after the future that was getting closer to the bottom. Just then another figure appeared, grabbing the other and pulling it up towards Clark.

When they got closer he noticed that the first one was a teenager. The other one, however, was a mermaid. It swam towards him but paused when he came closer to Clark and stared at him in awe. Clark inspected him, his tail was dark blue, almost black and so was his hair, and his eyes were a lighter shade of blue. His tail had three arrows sticking out of it and the blood turned the water around him red. He seemed to come back when the body in his arms twitched. He shoved the body at Clark and pushed them toward the surface.

Clark shot out of the water and landed on the yacht and immediately started to give the teen CPR. After a few minutes, the teen sat up and coughed out the water in his lungs. "What happened?" Clark asked, standing up.

"We were just sailing when they came up to us telling us we were in their territory. But we've sailed here before and we know it's not theirs. They told us to turn back, but we refused, and they started firing into the water, trying to scare us. One came near Trevor and he jumped and fell overboard. And I screamed. We rushed to pull him, but they kept firing, and then you showed up," The woman said, clutching to the teenager who was clinging to her.

"Well, I'm happy you're safe. I hope you get back to shore safely," he said. The family nodded and quickly left.

Clark hovered over the spot, lowered himself close to the surface of the water, and looked down. He suddenly remembered the mermaid and dove into the water, going as fast as he could. He came across the mermaid lying at the bottom. He gathered him up in his arms, ignoring the electric shock that ran up his arms and flew out of the water. Flying towards his house. He landed backward and rushed in. He laid the merman on the dining room table while yelling for his mother who was rushing into the room.

She barely blinked at the sight before ordering him to get her first aid kit. She pulled on some gloves and approached the unconscious merman. She passed a hand over his tail and quickly wanked out the first arrow.

The merman screeched and sat up, thrashing around. "Hey, it's OK..." Clark said, and the merman's attention snapped to him, and he froze. "We're just trying to help. My mom, she's a nurse; she can help," Clark said soothingly. The merman nodded, and Martha approached again, pulling out the second arrow. The merman screeched again, but his eyes remained on Clark.

"One more," Martha said, she pulled out the last arrow and poured some peroxide over the wound before quickly wrapping the tail.

"Done, Clark, go fill the bathtub and put some bath salt in. It won't be seawater but it's the closest we can get," She said to her adopted son before turning to the merman. "Don't worry, darling, we'll have you healed in no time."

Clark came back downstairs and picked up the merman who whimpered but snuggled closer to him. Clark took him upstairs, still ignoring the shocks, and laid him in the bathroom tub, chuckling softly as he got a sigh of relief from the merman.

"You stay here, big fellow. I'll come back and check on you later," he said, heading towards the door.

"Bruce," Came a voice from behind him.

"What?" he asked, looking wired-eyed.

"My name is Bruce, not Big Fellow," the merman said before dozing off. Clark quickly exited and went downstairs after changing his clothes and settling on the couch.
