Bruce paused and took a deep breath. They had been fighting for hours, and it seemed like the more they took out, the more mutants came. He stood up straight and looked at where all the mutants were coming from, but he only saw one person standing there in the shadows.

Quickly sneaking into the shadows, he snuck around the edge of the battle and toward where the person was standing. "Bats, what are you doing?" Clark asked in the earpiece.

"I have an idea," Bruce said, as he made his way closer to the mutant. Then he noticed that the mutant was replicating himself, so they weren't fighting a lot, they were just fighting one.

Slowly Bruce pulled out a Batarang and threw it at the mutant. The Batarang sailed through the air and lodged itself in the man's neck. Suddenly, all the mutants disappeared, and Bruce sighed in relief.

He made his way back to the battleground to see the team standing there looking around confused. "Bats, are you OK?" Superman asked when he saw him come back.

"I'm fine, Supes'" Batman said and Clark blushed at the nickname.

"Where did they go?" Green Lantern asked, coming over to them.

"It wasn't them; it was just one; he was replicating himself, making him look different and sending them out. He's dead now, though," Batman said, motioning to where the body lay.

The team made their way over to it while Clark and Batman stayed behind. "Are you sure you're OK?" Clark asked again, his eyes scanning Batman's body for injuries and broken bones. Finding none he sighed and pulled Batman into a quick kiss.

"I can't wait for our date tonight," He whispered, kissing Batman again before walking off.

Bruce watched him walk away, shook his head, and smiled. Ever since he said yes to dating Superman, the other man had taken every chance he had to kiss Bruce.

After cleaning up and making sure everything was OK and they didn't miss any mutants, Bruce hopped in his jet and took off towards home. He had work to do before he got ready for his date.

He was a few minutes away when the alarms in the Batjet suddenly went off, warning him of multiple incoming projectiles. He quickly pushed the alarm button on the dash and ejected himself from his seat seconds before the jet exploded.

Before he could make it to the ground something big and heavy slammed into him, and he flew across the ground before being stopped by a wall. The only thing that registered in his mind at the moment was hurt.

He opened his eyes, before looking up at the group of people standing around him. He pushed himself into a sitting position and snarled at the people surrounding him.

"You killed my brother," One of them said, before throwing a light orb at him, freezing him in place. The mutants continued their attack for a while before getting bored and leaving him there bleeding on the ground.

"Master Bruce," He heard a familiar voice call him, but his head hurt too much to register who it was. His vision became dark and the only thing he could feel was pain.
