"S-So... that's the dress huh?" Marco said sadly.

Star closed the closet and nodded.

"It'll look gorgeous on you." Marco sighed,

"I don't want to be gorgeous for Tom... I wanna be gorgeous for you, Marco..."

"Oh, Star... what can we do? The wedding is in three days and we said we'd come up with a plan..."

"Well... maybe we can postpone it somehow...?"

"How, Star? Tom's dead set on making this marriage happen..."

"He doesn't even know about you..."

"Maybe if you told him he'd-"

"NO!" Star snapped.

Marco jumped at her loud response.

"Sorry, just... Tom... he... doesn't... treat mortals... in the way he should..."

"He doesn't...?"

"You'd be in grave danger. Your family too..."

"So this is the boy Moon has told me all about" a voice called.

Star and Marco's heads immediately snapped towards the source of the sound. It was... Eclipsa... another Goddess of Magic.

"Yes. Yes, it is." Star said defiantly.

"My boy... I am so sorry. This system is unjust and prejudiced against you Mortals. You can't even be with the woman you love. I know the feeling of not being able to be with your lover... my husband was a monster... a mortal one at that... and I haven't seen him in so long... I suspect he is dead." Eclipsa frowned.

"Thank you, Miss... I'm so sorry..." Marco said sympathetically

"It's quite alright Marco... now tell me... how long until the wedding...?"

"We only have 3 days left to come up with something..."

"Three days... we can come up with something..."

...

Three days came and went... the plans they made came crumbling down.

What were they really supposed to do in a situation like this!? It was gods vs humans... This wedding was inevitable... and the day came like the sun at dawn.

Star was walking down the aisle, her dress elegantly moving down the aisle behind her. Marco had somehow managed to get an invite and was sitting in the crowd next to Eclipsa... he was depressed... he was watching the girl he loved be sold away to another man. It was... unbearable. But he was just a mortal, what was he supposed to do?

"And so... if any man or woman has any objections to why these two can not be lawfully joined together... speak now or forever hold your peace." The officiate announced.

And something was welling up in the little mortal... something very powerful and very... emotional. Marco shook with anger.

"Marco no..." Eclipsa urged.

"I DO!" Marco announced to the whole crowd.

There was muttering and whispering as he walked onto the aisle.

Tom was a god. He looked massive compared to him. He was wearing very royal and kingly clothing, adorned with hints of fire and lava. Marco was not deterred from his objection, however. Tom looked over to the puny mortal in his way.

"What is the meaning of this!?" He roared.

"She doesn't love you, your kingship! Don't you see? This talk of love and affection is just... lies! She doesn't feel the same way you feel about her, it's just her mom forcing her to say she does because she wants to have good relations with you Lucitors! Why can't you gods and goddesses just... sit down and talk damn it!? No, you all need to be selfish with one another. Queen Moon is selling her daughter to you just so she doesn't have to sit down and just... talk with the Lucitor Family and build good relations from there! Queen Moon, I may be a mortal, but I'm speaking the truth when I say Star is unhappy!" Marco monologued

Moon stood up.

"Sit down mortal boy, you don't wanna die some kind of hero." She said sternly.

Tom was fuming. Star looked very concerned for her boyfriend's safety.

"How do you know her!? How do you know what Star wants!? What SHE thinks!? Who SHE likes!?" Tom roared.

"Because she loves me, okay!? And I'll happily announce it to everyone here!" Marco admitted.

The crowd gasped.

"Star!?" Tom snarled, looking at Star for her input.

"It's true! I love Marco! I'm not gonna hide it anymore!" Star said dramatically.

Marco began.

"See? Now-"

"SILENCE MORTAL!" Tom snapped, erupting into flame, his voice altering...

"You can't love him Star! He's a mortal!" Moon protested.

"I don't care! I want to just run away from all this divine/mortal stuff for good! It's all horrible!" Star retorted.

"Can't you see? You can't stop love from blooming, it doesn't matter whether you're divine or mortal! The way you gods and goddesses treat us mortals is... appalling!" Marco shouted.

"He's right! This is a horrible place for mortals, and it's all because of us! We can't just elevate ourselves above other people, they might not be as powerful or as large as us but they're sentient. They think! Now I think it's time for us to think, because divine people are... just brainless when it comes to respect and love!" Star announced.

Tom covered his ears in a rage. He looked up at the boy ruining his happiest day and erupted once again into flame. He charged the boy before...

Being frozen in space... by Eclipsa.

"If you can't see these two young lovers for who they are, and who they love... then you have no heart. If you think selling your daughter to avoid talks is a good plan, then you're a terrible mother, Moon." Eclipsa said defiantly.

"You disrespect me... on the day of my daughter's wedding!?" Moon asked angrily.

"I'm not doing it, Mom! You'll have to kill me! I'll never make the man I love watch that..." Star glared.

Moon scoffed as the two Goddesses of Magic closed in on her... and even the boy.

"You'll regret the day you try and change the status quo, Star. You'll regret this severely. And you'll say 'Mom... if only I had known...'" Moon said ominously as she disappeared into thin air.

Star and Marco embraced, as the crowd looked on. Suddenly, a cheer... from both the divine and mortals...

Star wiped a tear as she looked at her mortal boyfriend.

"Maybe... maybe Mewni's ready to move on..." Star smiled.

"I hope so..." Marco smiled.

The two finally kissed, as the crowd cheered.

"Maybe Mewni can change after all... just maybe..." Eclipsa muttered to herself

"Just maybe..."
