Star's dress billowed softly as she looked over her balcony. She was a Goddess and the people of Mewni adored her and looked up to her (quite literally, she was like 6 foot)
She was a Goddess of Magic... she could do spells to lift heavy things, conjure up things... anything to her heart's desire, really.
But there was one thing she couldn't just conjure up. That was her little boy Marco. He was just... a lowly peasant to most. But to her, she was her everything, her reason to keep being a role model to the Mewmans, her reason to even keep going. She loved him, and she didn't care if it was unnatural or whatever, it was about her and him only.
Tonight she had to break some sorry sorry news to her little boyfriend. Something that would shatter his little heart... but it wouldn't stop them at all... because Star believed in her heart that love triumphed over all.
TINK!
The little grappling hook attached to her balcony. Star peered over it.
"Here comes my knight in shining armour." She laughed.
"I'm here!" Marco smiled.
Marco continued to climb before Star used her magic to lift him onto her balcony.
"My little prince." Star smiled warmly.
Marco hugged her tightly.
"I'm so happy to see you again Star..."
"L-Look we gotta talk..."
Marco's face immediately dropped.
"A-Are you gonna break up with me?" He asked shakily.
"Nono! Get that out of your little mind right this instant young man!" Star said sternly,
Marco nodded and listened.
"I... I gotta talk about... Tom."
"Y-You mean... The God of Fire Tom? That guy?" He asked
"Y-yep..."
"What about him?"
"M-Marco me and him..."
"Yeah...?"
"We've been... betrothed..."
Marco's little heart broke in two.
"O-Oh..." he said, tearing up.
"M-Marco, listen..."
"S-So we are breaking up?"
"I just said get that out of your little mind, mortal! I-I don't know what we're gonna do but... but... we'll think of something!"
"O-Okay..."
"Not much is gonna happen just... wanted to tell you before all the papers print it everywhere that me and him and... bleh... engaged."
Marco looked at her finger and inspected the ring.
"It's... gorgeous Star. M-maybe it's for the best you forget about me and be happy with him..." Marco said softly and sadly.
"No! No no no! I'm a Goddess of Mewni and I decree you are mine forever! And no stupid betrothal can change that... plus, Tom's... totally a brute."
"O-Okay..." Marco said.
"L-Let's just forget about this and... enjoy our time together... let me hold you, Marco..." Star whispered.
Star picked him up and walked into her room, she sat down and placed him on her lap and stroked his hair.
"I promise everything will be okay..."
"Y-you promise?"
"I am the Goddess of you and your people. I can make things happen and I can make things not happen at all. Don't you dare worry for a second my little lover."
"I-I trust you Star..."
"That's a good boy..."
...
Star woke up to the warm feeling of a small mortal clinging to her... she smiled and rubbed his soft and fluffy hair... but suddenly...
"C-Crap Marco wake up! M-My maids will be here soon!" Star whisper screamed.
Marco woke up and quickly ran to the balcony. Star lifted him using her magic and carefully plopped him on the ground below.
"Run Marco run!"
Marco quickly sped away, just as Star's maids came in.
"Ms Butterfly! Are you ready to get dressed? I'm sure you're very excited about your soon-to-be husband..." the maid smiled.
"Ms. Margot... how old are you?" Star asked.
"O-Oh, me, your highness? I'm 32..."
"Ms. Margot. We're friends, right? Would you say... marrying at 16 is... bad?"
"W-Well it's best I don't talk about that..."
"Why? Are we not friends?" Star asked.
"Her Royal Highness Moon... s-she's always listening... I-I don't wanna speak out of place..."
"Well... I don't think it's right... I-I don't wanna do this, Ms. Margot..."
Ms. Margot looked up at her sadly.
"I'm so sorry... Your Highness... b-but it's wise to not disobey your mother..." she whispered.
Star nodded as her maid got her ready.
...
Star descended the stairs all dressed up. When she reached the grand hall her mother looked PISSED.
"Star Butterfly." Moon frowned.
"Y-yes mother?" She asked nervously. When her mother called her by her full name she knew she was in DEEP trouble.
"Well, this morning our guards found a little... someone... walking around our palace gardens."
Star gulped. Nono, it couldn't be.
Moon snapped her fingers and two huge guards rolled in dragging Marco with them.
"Ohhhhhh crap." Star gulped.
"Who is this boy? Tell me now." Moon demanded.
"Release him, guards." Star said.
Moon gave the guards a steely glare.
"Don't you dare follow that command until I know who this boy is and why he's here." Moon snapped.
The guards, visibly shaken, didn't let go of Marco.
"So, Star. Wanna explain?" Moon glared.
Star looked at Marco and he nodded. She looked Moon dead in the eyes.
"Mom. There's something I need to explain."
...
"So... he is... your... boyfriend?" Moon asked.
"Yes. Yes, he is."
"But he's not, Star. I won't allow it. You have a husband already!"
"No, I don't! He's not my husband and even if we were married he still wouldn't be my husband!" Star shouted.
"You should learn to respect your parent's wishes, Star. We wouldn't want something bad happening to little Marco here would we?" Moon smirked evilly.
Star gasped.
"You wouldn't..."
"I would. Nothing is going to get you away from this. You can't stop this treaty from being signed. Your marriage with Tom is the place to sign!"
"Over my dead body!"
"Do not anger me, Star. Or your little mortal boyfriend isn't safe..." Moon glared.
Star shot her an evil glare before dragging Marco out of the room...
...
"Star... what are we gonna do?" Marco asked innocently.
"I'm... I'm not sure, Marco. But the wedding is soon... so we have to think quickly..."
