Marco's Mercy

"Well... I do like her a lot. But she's with Tom, and I don't wanna interfere..." Marco said begrudgingly.

"Well, dearie. I'm afraid that's how life is sometimes. You just have to be there for her for now and hope she'll come around" Eclipsa said as she sipped her tea.

"She won't though... I had my chance and I blew it with a girl who was too far out of my league..." Marco said and he traced a circle around his cup.

"Well... if she liked you before... she probably still likes you now" Eclipsa responded.

Marco laughed quietly.

"Nonono. No way. If she still liked me she'd wouldn't have got with Tom" Marco responded sadly.

"Well you see Marco... people sometimes settle for what they have instead of chasing some wild dream. So naturally she would have settled with Tom instead of ruining her chance with you. Hold out, dearie. Who knows?" She said trying to cheer him up.

"Thank you Eclipsa. But I don't think thats the case. She seems to really care about Tom and I always hear them talking about what they're naming their kids and all that and..." Marco stuttered.

"What is it dearie?"

"It hurts..." Marco said looking away.

"Oh, sweetie" Eclipsa said pulling him in for a hug.

"It's gonna hurt for a while. But if Star was truly your friend. She'd make it her top priority to make you happy"

"I hate to say it, but I don't think she really cares. She doesn't even pay me any mind any more. I might just go home. I'm sure my parents miss me and to be honest I miss them too. Besides, I assume  my sister wants to see her brother again"

"If that's what you want, Marco. But you're aware you're giving up, right?"

"I'm aware. I don't deserve a chance with a girl like her. Not after I was so stupid..."

"What actually happened when Star was on Earth, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Nono, it's fine. Well... she developed feelings for me and I didn't realise until it was time for her to go. Toffee had forced her out of Earth and she had to go into hiding. Eventually after his defeat you were free and the rest is history. She got with the bad boy demon and I'm left here... I can't complain. I deserve this"

"No one deserves this, Marco. Don't say that. Even if you did hurt her, two wrongs never make a right. That's how I live"

"Well, it makes sense. You never seemed to hate the MHC for what they did..."

"Well... it was super bad but if I hated them that would add even more to the 'Queen Of Darkness' facade, right?"

"I suppose. That's quite smart actually"

Marco took on last sip of his tea and wiped his eyes.

"I assume I'd best get packing. Thanks again, Eclipsa"

"Don't mention it sweetheart. I'm sure Star will come around"

"I hope so..." he said as he left the room.

Marco thought as he walked up the stairs. He knew he was making himself miserable here and his family are missing their son hoping the best for him when he's out here emotionally finished. It made Marco think real hard about his next move. He opened his door and began packing his clothes and other items. He had made his decision. He shoved them into a suitcase and lied down to catch some Z's. Just then, his door slowly creaked open.

"Hello? Marco? You decent?" Star called in.

"It's cool, come in" he responded.

Star walked in and was surprised to see all his stuff packed and ready to leave.

"Marco? What's... going on?" Star asked.

Marco patted the seat next to him on his bed and Star sat anxiously.

"Star. We need to talk" Marco said solemnly.

"About... what?" She said worriedly.

"Listen. I've had an amazing few months with you. We've had amazing, exciting adventures together and I'm so thankful to you and your family for letting me stay. But recently, even you might have realised this, it's coming to a stop. We're not hanging out, we barely see each other. To put it simply: I am no longer your best friend. Of course, we are cool, but I've lost my place as your most trusted person and go-to friend. But that's okay! Your boyfriend has taken that role now and I think- no, I know Tom is a perfect match for you. He's your boyfriend! Lovers are just the best kinds of friends. Star, after some time of thinking I have made this decision. I'm aware my parents, my sister, my friends have most likely all been missing me while I try and chase this fever dream of being with you but, it... wasn't how imagined"

"How... did you imagine it?" Star asked, staring him in the eyes.

"Okay... I came here because I thought me and you..."

"Me and you, what?" She asked.

"I came here because I loved you, okay? There! I said it! I destroyed my whole life, ruining my education and saying goodbye to my way of life just to be here with you and all I wanted was for us to be together in this. But here I am, third-wheeling behind you both. I tried to look cool and unbothered by being with Kelly but you know how that went! But it's no matter. I knew I made a mistake even trying to live here. Tad said it himself. I'm making myself miserable being here, to no fault of your own. Please don't misinterpret me, however. You moved on and that is my fault alone. And I'm sorry. For all of it. If I had a chance to go back to the day of the dance I'd pick you over Jackie one million times over. We've both hurt each other now Star. We're even" Marco said as he teared up and looked away.

"M-Marco I don't know what to say..." Star said, also on the verge of tears.

"You don't have to say anything" Marco said as he stood up and opened a portal.

"M-Marco?!"

"I had my chance and it was too late when I realised who meant the most to me. I hope you and Tom have a beautiful future together. I hope to see you soon. Goodbye Star. Thanks for everything. I love you"

"No! Nononono! Don't leave me!
I need you!" Star said as tears ran down her cheeks.

"Oh, Star" Marco looked at her.

"We both know that's not true" he said as he gave her one last smile and backed away into the portal with his items.

...

The cheesiness. It is too immense.

Also bad news... I have exams soon so I won't be able to post as much. I'll try to keep you all filled with glorious Starco content but I have to study. I suppose I could do the AI thing again but that'd be lazy. I suppose it'd keep you all entertained so I guess I could. What do you think?

Also there prolly will be a part 2 to this cuz why not?
