"HAAIIIII YA!" Marco shouted as he split 3 wood planks in half.
"Wow, very impressive hun" Star said in response.
"HUH?!" Marco asked in embarrassment.
"You heard me" Star responded.
She couldn't help it. It was just TOO funny to watch Marco freak out about her flirting attempts. They weren't dating and it made the joke even funnier.
"Star I don't need you teasing me right now. I have this big tournament tomorrow and I can't concentrate with you being all-"
"Being what?" She asked jokingly.
"Yknow" Marco said quietly as he turned red.
"What can I say, I just love seeing you squirm at my flirting" Star said happily.
"Wh- ITS NOT FUNNY I'M A SOCIAL OUTCAST AND IT MAKES ME FEEL EMBARRASSED" Marco shouted, still beet red.
Star giggled to herself as she watched Marco try to concentrate on the three planks of wood he put in front of him.
"HIIIIIIIIYYYY" Marco started
Star knew it was the right time to strike.
Out of the corner of Marco's eye, he could see Star blowing him a kiss.
Marco stopped dead in his tracks.
"S-STAR?! WHAT THE HECK!- THIS IS A CHRISTIAN HOUSEHOLD!!!" He said loudly as he turned a dark crimson.
"What?! It's just a kiss!" Star said holding back laughter.
Star couldn't help but laugh. She'd got him good.
"Star seriously this is throwing me off big time" he said as he adjusted his karate uniform.
Star watched as he tried to rearrange his uniform. It was clear he was sweating mad. It was funny because he hadn't done any training and it wasn't even hot outside. It was her who was getting him all riled up like this.
"Sorry, Marco. Am I making you sweat?" Star asked him softly. She was doing it again.
"Starrrrrr..." Marco whined as he retreated into his uniform like a turtle
Star giggled to herself quietly.
"I'm sorry Marco. Would you like to get something to eat?" Star said normally.
"It was Janna wasn't it? She's the one who got you into all this teasing and stuff" Marco said, looking away.
"Maybeeee?" Star prolonged her speech.
"Star I need to practice..." he said quietly.
"Okay okay! I'm sorry Marco. There. Now let's grab a bite"
Marco agreed and they both went to Britta's. There they met Janna and Jackie.
"Sup Marco. What's with the getup?" Janna asked.
"Oh this? I'm practicing my karate for this big tournament. Well, IM TRYING" He looked over to Star as he said this.
"What? Teasing you is funny!" Star joked.
"Oh you're doing that thing I told you? See? Didn't I say it gets boys all riled up and distracted" Janna said jokingly.
"It's not funny! I'm trying to concentrate!" Marco whined.
"Hey! Don't tease Marco guys! It's not nice!" Jackie butted in.
"Thanks Jackie" Marco said sadly.
"Cmon Jackie live a little" Janna replied.
"Yeah but the poor boy's trying to concentrate for something important! Star, leave him alone please" Jackie asked politely.
"Don't worry! I'll let him practice. I was gonna stop anyway" Star admitted.
"Thank you-" Marco exhaled.
The two said goodbye and took their tacos back home.
"So, more training when you get home?" Star asked.
"Yeah. I didn't get to do any basically because of SOME ONE" he looked at her.
"I said I'd stop, Jeez!"
Marco rolled his eyes as they walked back inside. For the rest of the day Star wouldn't see Marco except for when she walked into his room to say hi.
Eventually, the big day came. Marco looked as ready as ever. He had this badass red bandana and his uniform was nice and neat. Even Star had to admit, he cleaned up nicely.
"Alright! I'm amped!" Marco said jumping on the spot.
"Well, I wish you all the best" Star said happily.
"Are you going to be rooting for me in the stands, Star?" He asked her.
"Of course! What about your parents?"
"They have an important business meeting today. They couldn't come" Marco said sadly.
"Oh... looks like I'll have to chant 10x louder then!" Star said as she poofed some pom-poms and a t-shirt with Marco's face on it.
"Oh, Star" Marco blushed as he looked away.
"Now go get em tiger!" Star chanted.
Marco walked on to the stage. And Star screamed like a fangirl.
"Now entering is, Marco Diaz!" The announcer called.
For the first part of the tournament, Marco was doing pretty well. He was blocking attacks with ease and his hits were deadly. But as the tournament went on, Marco was more wore down, But kept fighting.
Star watched in agony as Marco took another attack. He looked absolutely exhausted and beaten down, but so were his opponents. The time finally came for the final. Marco looked almost beat but he stood anyway against his final opponent, who was 2x his size and was completely ripped. The bell rang as the two began.
Marco landed some pretty good shots at first, but after time he looked like he was about to be knocked out. Suddenly, his opponent hit a very good hit on him.
Marco fell over and looked to be beat.
Star watched in horror as Marco hit the ground. The referee was counting up now, waiting for Marco to get up. Marco looked over to the crowd and saw her. She looked at him worriedly, giving him the 'Don't get up' eyes. But something was wrong.
He should be here, losing to this random guy.
He fought monsters from other dimensions for crying out loud!
What would Star think?
Marco grasped the ground. He lifted himself up and readied again to the shock of the audience. This time, Marco was invigorated. He wiped the blood from his mouth and smirked. He wouldn't go down. Not if she was watching. He slammed his opponent hard and quick as he moved around like lightning.
Finally, with one last swift movement, Marco had brung his opponent down. He panted heavily and took in the events before him.
He had won. He had actually just won!
"WOOO YEAH MARCO WOOO!!!!" Star was shouting from the stands.
She ran down and embraced him, ignoring his sweaty mess of a body.
"Well done, Marco! You did it!"
"Well, I couldn't have done it without you" Marco said looking into her eyes.
"Oh, stop it! Now you're gonna make me blush..." Star said looking away.
Marco received the trophy and lifted it up with glee.
And it was all thanks to her...
