—First Person POV.—
It took me a bit longer to get out of my bedchamber because I was checking up on my maid servant, and pouring her a glass of water to down while I got ready.
Trying not to make it obvious I was rushing through the halls and down the stairs—I caught sight of my friend and her maidservant already at the bottom and waiting with the Prince.
And a part of me was a little thankful for Kinoko being too tired to help or come with— Maybe Itsuka got some time alone to talk with the dual-haired man at her side.
His head tilted up slightly, putting a pause in their conversation to meet my descending figure with those mismatched eyes—and I'm starkly aware of the floating clothes standing a bit behind them both.
I guess Hagakure and one of the house servants were also coming, both tasked with carrying baskets of food.
I'll have to ask what's up with the whole.. Invisible thing going on, but everyone's not even batting an eye at the servant so I think I'll feel like an ass questioning her on it.
Maybe another type of curse?
When I hit the bottom of the staircase, I try to subtly draw in a long breath—hiding the fact I was currently on the verge of an asthma attack despite not even having the respiratory condition.
"Welcome, Lady (Y/n)!" I catch Hagakure's sweet voice call out, gauging a light wave in my own silent response.
"Good to.. See you again?"
Okay, I couldn't help it.
My attention it tugged off to the side, where the Prince's stature craned forward in a bow of his own greetings—eyes flickering up from the floor to momentarily catch mine once more.
"Good to see you too, your Highness." I clear my throat, internally cursing myself for forgetting about my need to learn how to curtsy and instead opting to respectfully nod my head.
His expression was as impassive as ever, mismatched eyes blinking for a moment and dragging a flush along my cheeks as I turned away—hoping to ignore that lingering stare.
How brazen.
A part of me wanted to grumble when I flicked my gaze to Itsuka, who gave me a smile that I quickly returned.
"Sorry for the delay," I start off in an attempt to break the silence—keeping my voice steady despite the anxious flutter in my chest "I was busy with something important."
Could've come up with a better excuse, but it looked like no one bothered sticking their nose in my reasoning, so who cares?
Shifting into my vision, the Prince gave a curt nod—his voice revealing nothing but that flat tone "No need to apologize, Lady (Y/n)."
