—First Person POV.—
"But precisely what do you think the Prince of Oyashima will say if he were to suspect..?" A defiant tone tainted her words.
Oh.
Oh...
I quickly raised a hand, causing the Lady to pause as I dropped the towel onto the floor and lightly pushed it to stuff the crack in the bottom of the oak.
Once I dropped my arm, her rambles started up once more—understanding that now no one would hear her anger.
"I won't go, I won't." She sneers, flicking her wrist and tossing her blonde hair over her shoulder to cast down the center of her back—it seemed to have started to tangle once more, almost making me sigh.
Almost.
I opened my mouth to speak but soon closed it as I pause 'But if you don't go, they will definitely suspect something.' Not wanting her anger directed on me, I cleared my throat "What did the Duke say?"
Forest green eyes glint against the firelight as they swam with tears—expression ablaze "He says I must go, that I can simply wear looser clothing."
I need to bite back the disgust that flashes through my head, hoping I would be wrong about the possible insinuation.
She sniffles and curls her lip "Father says I can give the child to someone far away and forget about it after it's born."
And I am unpleasantly correct.
"But I want to marry Yuji." She states, head tilted to stare longingly at the foggy window over her shoulder.
My body pauses for the millionth time today—breath stilling as I watched her brows furrow: rebellious determination.
"Get my things packed into some traveling bags." The command is followed by the Lady raising a hand to messily wipe away the tears that had trekked down and wet her cheeks.
And I don't have time to say anything as her figure bounds past me, hurriedly rummaging through one of her trunks and tossing masses of clothes my way.
"Pack these." She calls out as I'm drowning in what I'd assume to be a dress before her footsteps shuffle to another part of the room—giving me time to toss all of the laundry into a pile on the bed.
"You plan on leaving right away? Could you not wait until morning at least?" I had gotten to work on rolling the clothes into tight bundles so it'd be easier to stuff and wouldn't wrinkle.
"I must go now, my father plans to send me to Oyashima early in the morning." Looking over at her figure standing at the vanity—I watch as she clenched her jaw, closing her eyes for a moment.
"If Yuji refuses to take me away, I'll kill myself."
The past ten minutes seemed to reach its peak with that 'It's concerning that you promised those words so calmly..' I internally comment as I slowly turn back to the pile before me.
Thankfully, I doubt he could be against the idea of running away— I had only met him a few times to help Hikari sneak out, but Sir Itadori seemed like an overall kind man.
Opposites really do attract, huh?
"Make haste, (Y/n)! Don't just stand there!" The soon to be runaway-Lady calls right over my shoulder and I jolt—hands fumbling with the sash in my grasp and deadpanning towards the maiden.
She had returned with an onslaught of hair accessories and traveling bags, immediately getting to work on stuffing them full with the clothing.
I couldn't help but stare at Lady Hikari for a few seconds—eyes trailing over her bed, now decorated in bundles of her laundry.
