—First Person POV.—

Another day, and I wish it was five more.

I woke up groggily—thinking all of this had been a dream and I was back in my room, where Hikari never left.

But that was shattered when Kinoko bounced into the room, smiling at me to inform breakfast came and simultaneously informed she would be heading out to continue her quest for more plants to ingest.

How fun..

After a morning brightened by a sweet breakfast, and followed in getting dressed for the day—I headed out into the castle, soon finding that my only Lady-friend, Itsuka, had disappeared off into the vast halls much earlier than me.

So now I was technically alone, leisurely trotting through the open and partially bustling corridors.

Not really doing much— Whether I stumbled upon her or not didn't really matter, or well, it'd be a nice surprise, but I was just trying to find something to do at this point.

Much like the last free day, I figured to avoid the library since that's where the Prince would most likely be and traveled down the main staircase that led to the first level.

It was wide and my had lightly dragged along the bannisters as a few servants passed by—making my eyes cast off to avoid their gazes and instead fixate my attention down on the smoothly carved designs presented along the handrail.

Multiple footsteps echoed in the high-ceilinged space—showing off the constant sounds of the castle's daily life.

Trotting through the foyer, I turned down another corridor—not really paying too much mind to where I was heading at this point.

Much like the corridors in the other stories above, this one was lined with windows and patterns to showcase wealth despite guests probably never even being down this way.

Every now and then I'd catch sight of a painting, depicting scenes of battles and celebrations—their colors vivid even after centuries while bright crimson curtains rimmed every window.

And after a while of walking—a familiar wooden door soon came into view, its surface roughened in contrast to the others I've seen here.

I reached out to absentmindedly trace the darkened texture with my fingertips before pushing it open.

It creaked slightly as it swung outwards, revealing the gardens I'd gotten to see during the tour a few days ago— Now, its flowers were bathed in morning dew and seemed more vibrant in the hues of dawn.

Beaded liquid glistened on the petals in every imaginable color, their heads turned towards the sun as if in prayer or thanking for the warmth the heat provided.

The air is filled with the sweet, earthy scent of fresh blooms and the soft hum of bees going about their work.

And without a moment of hesitation, I stepped out into the sunlight—sighing lightly as I pushed the door shut behind me with an affirming click.
