—First Person POV.—

"Ladies, if you would join me." The Prince called out—snapping me from my daze when he takes a step back and uses his free hand to gesture for us to follow.

I blink, brain taking a moment to actually register what he'd said when a blur of motion falls in front of me— And a Daki is already at the door, making me speed walk off after her.

Mainly driven by the thought that if I stayed any longer, I'd be forced to help clean up the flour and sugar casted throughout the poor kitchen.

That incredulous look painting Chancellor Ojiro's features hadn't left when I pass by—clearing my throat and uttering a short apology before awkwardly heading off with the Prince.

It was quiet, and I was trying to subtly pat down the flour casted over the gown I'd borrowed—all while simultaneously attempting to avoid snickering at the trail of white powder left behind by Lady Daki.

We walked through the open corridors in silence, the only sound being the soft tapping of his cane against the floor.

Which, I'd pretty much figured he'd only use during the nighttime.

And that thought is what drew my gaze to the side, taking in the windows that allowed the halls to be bathed in the soft glow of dusk—consequently casting long streams of orange along the walls.

As we passed by another window, I glanced outside to see the sun setting, further dressing the sky in hues of darkening orange and dappled purples.

When movement shifts in the corner of my eye, I  turned my head slightly and eyes flickering off course to take notice of the Prince looking out the window as well.

He didn't say anything.

Those mismatched irises fell over mine in a brief meeting before he fixed his attention forward again.

And with the pass of every window peaking its column of diminishing light into the castle, I caught onto the way his stature started to slouch slightly—the pressure on his cane growing audible with each lingering thump.

Daki had started talking at some point— Something about trying to cover herself for the whole 'immodest' behavior and how she'd never even do something like earlier.

Which, now that I think of it— Who even started the fight again?

It sounded so stupid, but whether or not I'd be found guilty because of her claims, I really couldn't think of a reason to care right now.

Because one, it was actually pretty fun, and two, despite being behind him, I could still see the steam had started to seep from the left side of his head—moonlight rising to brush over his figure and twisting that vapor along his ear into a point.

My pace had driven me forward, falling into step with his Highness when his eyes flickered up, steam leaving behind peppered scales along his skin.

A faint glow began emitting from his eye—fire overtaking cerulean and creating a warm light that contrasted harshly against the moons soft rays.
