Taylor's POV:
The girls finished their pancakes and we went into the living room to watch a movie. "What do you want to watch?" I ask. Cora looks at Ellie, "Do you like the Descendants movies?" She asks. "Yeah! I love them all!" She says. "Which one do you want to watch? I don't care." Cora says. "Descendants 3?" Ellie asks. "Yeah!" Cora says. Halfway through the movie, both of the girls eyes were fighting to close. "You guys can go to sleep." I say. Ellie moved closer to me and snuggled. "Cora, we should head to bed. Head upstairs and I'll be right there to tuck you in after I get Ellie settled." I whisper. "Okay mommy." She says. I pick Ellie up, trying not to wake her and carry her upstairs to the other guest bedroom. I place her into the bed, "Goodnight Ellie. Sleep tight." I say quietly as I crack the door and head to Cora's room. I knock quietly, "Come in Mommy." She whispers. "Goodnight angel. Love you." I say. "Love you too Mommy." She says back.
Ellie's POV:
Where are you, brat?! Miss Minchin yells. She finds me and starts to hit me. Please stop! I say as I cried. You need to learn your lesson! She yells and hits me even harder. Mama! Daddy! I yell. Your mama and daddy aren't here anymore! Their dead! She yells as she keeps hitting me harder and harder until I had a bunch of scratches and bruises.
I wake up and scream. I start to cry when I realize that I don't know where I am. Taylor came in and ran to me. "Shhhh. It's okay, Ellie. I'm right here. Shhhh." She said as she pulled me into a hug and I sobbed into her chest. "I-i m-miss-m-my-m-mama-a-and-d-daddy." I say as I cried. "I know honey. Shhhhh. It's okay." She said. "Do you want me to sleep with you or do you want to sleep with me?" She asks. "I want you to sleep with you." I say as my cries calmed down. "Okay honey." She says as she picks me up and carries me to her room.
Taylor's POV:
I wake up to a piercing scream. It wasn't Cora then I realized it was Ellie. I ran to the guest bedroom where she was sleeping and I go in. I see her rocking back and forth with tears streaming down her face and wet pieces of hair sticking to her face which I assume was from sweat. I immediately run to her, "Shhh. It's okay, Ellie. I'm right here. Shhh." I say as I pull her into a hug and she sobbed into my chest. "I-i-m-miss-m-my-m-mama-a-and-d-daddy." She said as she cried. "I know honey. Shhhh. It's okay." I say. "Do you want me to sleep with you or do you want to sleep with me?" I ask her. "I want to sleep with you." She said as her cries had calmed down. "Okay honey." I say as I pick her up and carry her to my room. I see Cora in her doorway with a worried look on her face. "What's wrong angel?" I ask. "Is Ellie okay?" She asks. "Yeah angel. She's fine. She just had a nightmare." I say. "Is it okay if she sleeps with me?" I ask, knowing that was usually our thing. "Yeah. Absolutely." She said. "I'm glad she's okay." She added. "Goodnight angel." I say. "Goodnight Mommy." She said. I laid Ellie down and laid next to her. "Can you sing me a lullaby?" She asked. "Of course honey." I say. "What song? One of mine or a different one?" I ask. "One of yours." She said. "Okay." I say. "Can you sing State Of Grace acoustic version?" She asks. "Yeah honey. Of course." I say. I start to sing:
I'm walking fast through the traffic lights
Busy streets and busy lives
And all we know is touch and go
We are alone with our changing minds
We fall in love 'til it hurts or bleeds, or fades in time
And I never (never)
Saw you coming
And I'll never (never)
Be the same
You come around and the armor falls
Pierce the room like a cannonball
Now all we know is don't let go
We are alone, just you and me
Up in your room and our slates are clean
Just twin fire signs, four blue eyes
So you were never a saint
And I've loved in shades of wrong
We learn to live with the pain
Mosaic broken hearts
But this love is brave and wild
And I never (never)
Saw you coming
And I'll never (never)
Be the same
This is a state of grace
This is the worthwhile fight
Love is a ruthless game
Unless you play it good and right
These are the hands of fate
You're my Achilles heel
This is the golden age of something good and right and real
And I never (never)
Saw you coming
And I'll never
Be the same
And I never (never)
Saw you coming
And I'll never (so you were never a saint)
(And I've loved in shades of wrong)
Be the same (we learn to live with the pain)
(Mosaic broken hearts)
(But this love is brave and wild)
This is a state of grace
This is the worthwhile fight
Love is a ruthless game
Unless you play it good and right
She fell asleep in my arms, "Goodnight Ellie. I love you." I say.
