So, you finally learned the truth?
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Kalani's eyes slowly fluttered open, but closed almost instantly when she met the bright light of the sun— she was outside again, but instead of the clearing, she was in what seemed like a garden.
Once her eyes were finally opened, Kalani tried pushing herself up off the ground, but was met with resistance as a terrible headache settled at the front of her head. A pair of hands gently pressed against her shoulders, slowly pushing her back down to the ground.
You mustn't move so quickly. You've suffered bouts of vertigo and whatever pain your feeling is likely an effect.
The sound of something gently tapping against the ground nearly echoed through the otherwise silent garden. But from the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a sheer, gold piece of fabric that dragged along the ground.
Which was strange given the fact that whenever she was transported elsewhere, no one was with her.
Now fully alert, Kalani quickly scrambled to her feet, ignoring the pounding feeling in her head. She quickly looked around where she noticed that standing a few feet away from her was a woman completely draped in gold.
A glittery, sheer, gold veil was placed over her head, completely obstructing her view of the lady underneath. She wore a gold dress that made the veil seem solid and her feet were completely bare.
Against my advice, you still got up. At least sit down, I'm not sure what would happen if you passed out in another realm.
The woman moved to a bench and sat down, gesturing to the empty spot next to her, but Kalani didn't move.
"Angelina."
The woman froze for a few seconds before shaking her head and letting a monotone laugh before reaching for her veil and pulling it down, allowing it to fall into her lap. And Kalani was met with a sight that she was never prepared for.
One of her eyes was a milky shade of white, indicating her lack of vision in that eye while her other eye was the same shade of brown as her brother and biological father.
Her cheek had a gash running along it, at least five inches long. There was a trail of dried blood that dribbled down her forehead and stopping above her eyelid.
But that wasn't what caught Kalani's eye.
What managed to catch her eye was the black thread sewn through her lips, explaining why she never audibly spoke.
"Y— you don't look very disfigured to me." In hindsight, that probably wasn't the best thing to say to a person who was your supposed sister.
Yes, I am. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose.
"I have a few questions." When she didn't respond, Kalani took that as her sign to continue. "I read a bit about the family history, and it mentioned something about you being a Celestial Guardian. If you don't mind my asking, what exactly is that?"
The Celestial Guardian is someone meant to act as a protector and guide to the holder of the celestial dragon. For a considerable amount of time, I was trained in the ways of old magic, in hopes that I would be able to fend off danger far better than the typical fairy, but that proved pointless as we can very well see.
