"You're late."

I turn around and face my sister who sat on the chair of the dining table.

A shawl wrapped around her shoulders and fingers tapping on the table surface.

"Why are you awake?" I look at the time, it was almost midnight.

She shrugs. "Mama was tired so I took her duty for tonight."

I drop my blazer on the back of a chair and pull it out, "What is that? Staying awake to make sure I eat dinner or to ask questions that has been brewing in her brain for the whole day?"

She stands up and walks inside the kitchen, a second later she brings a plate filled with piping hot lasagna.

"How about both?" She places the cutlery beside the plate.

I unfold the napkin and place it on my lap and pick up the fork and knife. "You have questions for me?"

I take a bite of the food and nod. My sister raises an eyebrow. "How is it?

I take another bite, "Well considering I'm still eating. It's good, quite eatable actually."

"You are mean, Mahib" She shakes her head with a smile. "How was your day today?"

The scenario what happened four days ago replays in my mind, after driving away from her apartment, I drove aimlessly for nearly two hours and then spend few more hours by the beach, watching waves crashing the shore repeatedly.

It has been no less than a torture of seeing Manar in the office every single day and resist the urge to go talk to her or just see her.

If she doesn't want to talk about what's bothering her and thinks cutting me off from her life would solve all her problems then I'll let her stay in her bubble for a while.

Until she decides what she wants. I always thought maybe I am bit imposing on her so this time, it would be her making the choice.

I want her to understand that we both are on the same boat.

I swallowed the food in my mouth before speaking, "Just like any other day."

"Like how?" Her voice follows my movements.

"Like every day, working, meetings, more working." I shrug taking a bite of my food. "How about yours?

"Just like any other day, waking up, eating, looking after the kids, talking to my husband, more taking care of the kids, yeah, that's it." She copies my moments, making me chuckle.
