"It could be any one of you." Ali says, pushing his unusual unruly hair behind. It was very out of character of him.

"I feel I am going to throw up." A girl says beside me fanning herself with her hands.

"The washrooms are that way." Ali points at the end of the hallway.

"Mr. Ali." A guy who was standing nervously speaks up, "Do you have any idea how the chief architect is?"

"Oh she is a nightmare." Ali controls a shudder. Which looked it wasn't made up.

"That bad?" Another girl winces.

"The worst." Ali says. "Ms. Eman and Mr. Mahib have been trying to get her out of the board for years. But that witch has her claws set deep."

The girl places her hand on her mouth and gags. I pat her shoulder assuringly.

"I remember my first year here." Ali continues. "A young intern had to leave this city because she couldn't handle her embarrassing taunts."

The girl runs towards the washroom.

I look at him. "You are not really helpful."

He points at the tab in his hand. "A reason why I only manage and don't talk."

"Please stop." The guy says.

At the same time, Mahib opens the meeting room and asks Ali for his tab and without any glance closes the door.

Ali looks at us. "Alright, it's near. Best of luck everyone."

"But—"

"Just remember." He raises his hand. "Remember why are you here. What led you here. Your goal, your motivation." He looks at me. "This is just a small hurdle. If you can overcome this, you can achieve anything."

"Ali stop talking." The guy groans.

The door opens again and this time, Mahib looks at me. "Ms. Manar, come in."

I stare at him in shock. Why am I called first?

Mahib gives a small shrug, tilting his head towards the meeting room.

My stomach churns with fear. I was partly confident in my head that I could explain my design.

But with the thought that I am called first makes my legs turn jello.

"Best of luck, Manar." The guy who stood beside me says with a hint of mockery in his tone.

"Tch." The girl beside him elbows him. "She is our senior, say her name with respect."

I could feel my hands start to shake as I stare inside the meeting room. Mahib's brows dip in concern as I stay rooted to my spot.

I am going to fail this and all will laugh at me.
