I press the door bell and breathe out an anxious breath as I hear the bell ringing, waiting for the person on the other side to open the door.

After exactly a minute, I hear a female voice answering through the door. "Who's there?"

I take a look around the hallway where other residents apartment doors align and close my eyes briefly. "Andaleeb, it's me, Manar."

The door opens instantly and I am met with the site of Andaleeb wearing an apron and a dust of flour struck on her forehead.

A large smile forms on her face. "Manar! Come in, come in."

I give her a smile and enter inside the apartment.

"I am so happy to see you here. You didn't had trouble finding the apartment, did you?"

I shake my head. "Not at all." I look at the beautifully decorated apartment with equal shades of green white and brown. "Your house is beautiful, Andaleeb."

"Thank you." She smiles, folding her hands. "You can call me Deeba." She claps her hands delightfully and gestures me to sit on a couch in the living room.

"Tabrez went out for groceries. He should be back in a while." She adjusts the cushions on the couch and switch on more lights of the living room. "Should I get you anything? Water? Tea? Coffee?"

I shake my hand. "Nothing, please. I was here to talk with Tabrez bhai."

"He is not here. So in the meantime, tea? Water atleast?"

At her hopeful voice, I nod. "Water."

She nods and quickly brings me a glass of water. "Room temperature."

I take a sip and look at her. "How did you know I drink room temperature water?"

She gives a smile, which makes the dimple on her left cheek dig deeper. "Tabrez always mentions how only you and him drank room temperature water."

I take a sip, fresh waves of memories of my childhood attack my mind along with those which I kept reminiscing the whole ride here.

Andaleeb was about to sit beside but quickly gets up.

"I would've hugged you but.." she gestures at her apron and winces. "Let me go change my clothes real quick."

I stop her. "You don't have to treat me like I am some vip. I like it when people are comfortable in their home."

She smiles. "You came by the right time. I was making some cupcakes, vanilla. Tabrez loves vanilla. What's your favourite flavour?"

She walks towards the kitchen and I follow her and sit on a bar stool. "It was vanilla. Tabrez bhai didn't liked to admit but he loved my choice."

Andaleeb chuckles. "I get it now."

"Should I help?"

She shakes her head. "Absolutely not, I have put the cupcakes in the oven and just have to clean the kitchen."
