My head lolls back, snapping me out of my sleep.

When my eyes catch the sight in front of me all
traces of sleep vanishes from my eyes.

Mahib paces around the hospital room with Noor in his arms, his eyes closed and he soothingly taps her back.

I move my palm from under my face and wince as blood rushes through my arm.

Mahib's eyes snaps to mine and he raises his eyebrows.

I shake my head.

He gestures me to lay back down and sleep.

I wave my hand and motion to give Noor to me. He blink's assuringly and continues to tap her back.

It's been a while since the doctor gave Noor an antibiotic vaccine after she threw up all over Mahib earlier this afternoon. I felt bad that Mahib had to experience that but he merely shook his head with a smile and called for a change of clothes from his house.

Ever since then, she hasn't stopped crying.

I tried to soothe her but she kept crying. Because of fever, she got ulcers in her throat, that's also a reason why she is getting irritated and doesn't stops crying.

Whenever I see tears in her eyes, I cry with her because whenever I see her unable to lift her hand because of those tubes, my heart breaks to no extent.

I will take thousands of diseases instead of her so my daughter doesn't suffer.

When we both kept crying, Mahib took Noor in his arms and asked me to sit on the couch and relax for a while since I didn't slept a wink last night. He stayed with me but he refuses to even sit down for a while and relax.

I do feel tired after reliving the emotional burden off my chest, even lighter and better.

A week ago I didn't thought I would be here, in a hospital room watching my daughter getting comforted by Mahib.

I rest my back on the couch and watch as Mahib carefully lays Noor on the bed and taps her chest and covers her with a blanket.

"You should go take some rest." I whisper as he sits on the couch beside mine. "You are here since last night."

"So are you." He whispers back. "And I can't leave you both here alone."

"But you have posted security."

"I still want to be here."

Gratitude for this man fills my chest. "Thank you so much, Mahib."

He gives me a tired smile. "I don't mind looking out for you both, really."

I play with my fingers. "I want to apologize for my behavior from the past few days...I wasn't in a right state of mind and I—"

He cuts me off. "Apology will only be expected if you agree on my condition."
