•AVYAANA •
My eyes opened to the soft morning light filtering through the curtains. Immediately, the memories from the night before came flooding back.
The nightmare, the screams, him walking away and then the tea and me sharing what happened that day, With him.
"Oh God!" I gasped, my eyes widening with sudden realization. "Did I really share everything in that fragile state?"
"Fuck, Avyaana," I murmured under my breath, cursing my momentary lack of composure.
'What must he think of me now? ' The thought made my cheeks burn with embarrassment as I squeezed my eyes shut and cradled my face in my hands.
"So foolish. So foolish," I berated myself, shaking my head slowly.
Now the veil had been lifted, leaving me exposed in a way that made me feel uncomfortably bare.
I watched him with a heaviness settling in my chest, the memory of my vulnerable outpouring from last night still so fresh and raw.
As he padded across the room, he slipped the shirt over his broad shoulders and began doing up the buttons. With each fluid motion, a pang of regret washed over me. I had revealed too much- the anguish, the fear, the parts of myself I typically kept under lock and key.
