“Thank god, we’re close!” Jessice screamed in relief. “Shh! You may attract infected over here!” Ellegaard lectured. “Sorry.” Jessica chuckled nervously. “Ivor really shut himself away from the world, huh?” Soren answered. “Yeah. But at least he isn’t in another dimension.” Ellegaard sighed, unintentionally making a stab at Soren.
“Sorry I shut myself away from any human interaction for so long. I just didn’t want to hear about any more fighting. Especially how much you and Magnus bicker.” Soren apologized. “It’s fine. I just wish you didn’t. But you're with us now, that’s the important part.” Ellegaard smiled. Olivia froze in her tracks, looking behind her, hearing a cracking noise.
“What’s wrong, Olivia?” Jessica asked, looking at Olivia. “I swear I heard bones cracking.” Olivia answered. Another bone snap was heard. “I’m hearing it too.” Ellegaard agreed, looking around too. Something crept behind Ellegaard, hovering over her. “Ellie...” Soren began before it lunged and created a scar on her neck, her coughing blood.
“Ellegaard!” Olivia replied worriedly, going to help her, but Jessica stopped her. “Don’t! I’m not safe to be around!” Ellegaard stuttered. “Go! I’ll hold her back!” She added. Olivia started tearing up, not wanting to leave Ellegaard behind. She’s grown so close to her, she can’t just leave her. “C’mon, Olivia. We have to go.” Jessica frowned.
Olivia sighed, nodding, going with Jessica and Soren inside to the maze. Ellegaard stood up, grabbing a sword. “Wanna infect us? You're going to have to get through me!” Ellegaard threatened, swinging her sword at the creature. She couldn’t recognize it, but it had orange hair, pale skin, and a teal bandana. She looked like she was going to die, the majority of the skin around her mouth decaying and rotting.
Ellegaard kept hanging on, coughing up blood, getting more shaky and weak with every swing. The creature began making more and more scars on her body as she missed every time. Ellegaard panted, looking at the creature. She dropped her sword, knowing what to do. As it lunged at her, she lunged at it too, pinning it to the ground, pulling the golden sword from its head and plunging it into the spot it’s heart would have been.
It let out a loud screech before its eyes turned black. Ellegaard immediately collapsed as that happened, dying with it. Vines covered her body as its body produced them. Once now a hero, now an infected corpse, becomes a mindless zombie along with the creature.
