“I got an infected strand from Soren.” Ivor answered. “Can’t you try to take more?” Lukas asks. “Do you think I really didn’t try that? They were ALL infected.” Ivor snapped. “Wait, where’s Soren?” Olivia questioned. Ivor stayed silent. “Dead.” Ivor muttered.

Everyone stayed silent. “It doesn’t matter. He couldn’t help us either way. He just sped up the infection for Maya.” Ivor answered. “How is she?” Lukas asked. Ivor led them to the lab. She was sickening. She didn’t even have eyes. They weren’t even in their sockets. One was completely gone, and one was just hanging on.

Her ribs were also coming out of her back. One half of her face exposed her rotting flesh. She had horns and spikes coming out of her head. She looked to be ripping her cheeks off on one side of her face. Lukas frowned, tears forming, setting his hand on the glass shield protecting them from her.

“She’s going to have to be killed.” Ivor answered, standing away from the protective shield. Lukas sniffled, wiping his tears. “N-no. We can’t still try and save her. We have to at least try!” Lukas answered, bawling his eyes out. He lost the others. He didn’t want to lose Maya either. “There’s no point!” Ivor argued, walking away, not wanting to argue.

Lukas looked back at Maya, placing his hand back on the glass, crying. Jesse came close, placing his hand on his shoulder. “I’m sorry, Lukas. But she can’t be saved. She’s far from being able to be saved.” Jesse replied. “I already lost Gill and Aiden. I don’t need to lose her.” He cried, sniffling.

“I know. Trust me, I feel the same about Petra.” Jesse added, looking at the ground. “We’ll make sure this whole thing stops soon. There’s no way there isn’t a cure, right?” Jesse said, trying to reassure Lukas.

“Yeah. Then this whole thing will end.” Lukas replied, smiling at Jesse. “I just hope you're right.” Lukas added, smiling at Jesse. Jesse smiled back. He wished he didn’t judge Lukas so quickly. He was an actual good person, just in the wrong crowd.
