Chapter 27: REUNION

Jessica was waiting impatiently for Axel and Jesse to arrive. “So many fucking stairs!” A voice groaned in annoyance. It was Axel’s! Jessica immediately rushed over to where the voices were. “Jesse! Axel!” Olivia greeted, running over and hugging them both. “Where were you guys?” Jessica asked as Ivor walked over.

“Enough with the small talk. Axel, give me the lead.” Ivor requested, holding his hand out. Axel angrily handed him the lead, glaring at him. “There.” Axel grumbled. “Is it fucking dead, Axel.” Ivor asked angrily. “Hey, a deal’s a deal, fuckhead!” Axel argued.

“We nearly lost our lives finding her, dumbass! We got chased down by fucking Gabriel trying to even spot her!” Axel added. “She’s a human too, just infected.” Jesse glared. Ivor tugged her into the light. “Is THIS what you call a human, Jesse? No wonder why you have such an explosive best friend.” Ivor argued.

“LISTEN HERE, DIPSHIT, WE GOT HER, SO SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH UP OR YOU’LL JOIN THOSE DAMN CORPSES OUTSIDE IN THE AFTERLIFE!” Axel threatened, looking like he was going to go batshit. “C-corpses?” Olivia stuttered. “Wait, who were they?” Lukas asked. “It looked to be Petra and Ellegaard. They both looked dead.” Jesse added softly.

Olivia bit her lip. “It’s okay, Olivia. We’ll end this thing. Plus, knowing someone’s immune is a real help, right?” Jessica smiled. “Wait, someone’s immune!?” Jesse asked. “Soren is.” Olivia answered under her breath, jittering her foot.

“Thank god.” Axel sighed. “Now. Excuse me while I take care of something. SOREN!” Ivor called. Soren peaked his head out from the room Jessica, Lukas, Olivia came out of a little bit ago. “Come with me.” Ivor demanded, walking back there to his lab.

“So, what the hell happened?” Jessica asked. “A lot.” Jesse chuckled.

“So, I was looking for Petra a week after she just ditched, and I found Aiden and Lukas.” Jesse began before getting interrupted. “But isn’t Aiden infected? What happened?” Jessica asked. “I’ll get to it when I get to it.” Jesse sighed.

“Anywho, we stayed the night in a cave and caught up with what happened. I had a little fight with Aiden, and a day later, we found the cave where Petra, you, and me were. Long story short, Petra was VERY clearly infected and chased after me and Lukas. We rested at a tree and were planning on going in the morning. Well, Aiden ditched me and Lukas. So, we continued ourselves.” Jesse continued. “Not out of character for Aiden, continue.” Jessica nodded.

Jesse looked at her, annoyed, but continued. “After a while of going in a big loop, we ran into Gill, and Lukas had a huge scratch on his leg after escaping him. That’s when we found Axel and Magnus.” Jesse started again. “Where’s Magnus?” Jessica asked. “That part is coming up.” Jesse added, slightly pissed.

He continued again. “I amputated Lukas’s leg, and we continued in the morning. We ended up getting to Ivor’s place, and Ivor was able to get Lukas a prosthetic. First, Axel and Magnus went to find Maya... but he got killed in the process. So, me and Axel went out to get Maya this time and ran into Gabriel before finding and capturing her. And now, here we are.” Jesse said, finishing the story.

“Oh god.” Olivia muttered, jittering her leg more. “Olivia, calm down, we’ll be fine.” Jessica smiled reassuringly. “So, what happened with you?” Jesse asked. Jessica stood up, ready to tell what happened.

“Okay, so, I went near a cave and found footprints after being chased by Petra. I was walking down the path when I stepped on a twig, and then Gill just spawned fucking behind me, and chased me down!” Jessica began. She took a breath. “Got chased by them too?” Jesse asked. “Yes.” Jessica answered.

“So, after I ran away, I found a nether portal and entered it. Apparently, Maya was chasing me and I jumped into a minecart and went to Redstonia, thinking it wasn’t as bad there, and knew damn well Boomtown was infested and just horrible to be in.” Jessica continued. “Which it is.” Axel nodded.

“And right when I got into Redstonia, I was greeted by a bunch of infected! I ran to the dome, where Olivia pulled me inside to where I saw Ellegaard.” Jessica added. “But how did-” Axel began, before Jesse stopped him, gesturing to Olivia, seeing how she wasn’t ok. “Shit, my bad.” Axel added, then let Jessica continue.

“Anywho, we ran into Aiden at a tree dying and Gill was apparently chasing him, so I was trying to help him, but got pushed away by Aiden and dragged away by Olivia. A-and...” Jessica started, taking a breath to try and clear the memory from her mind.

“And I saw Aiden get killed, to say nicely, and we ran away as fast as possible. We went to the end, found Soren, and found out he was immune. On our way here, right before we entered, I think Petra,- attacked Ellegaard.” Jessica added, looking at Olivia, who was recalling the memory in her head, terrified.

“Anywho, she held her back, and we arrived here.” Jessica added, trying to keep it vague so Olivia wouldn’t break down. She was MUCH more sensitive than Axel. “Damn. Ran into more infected than me.” Jesse answered.

“Yeah, but that’s my story.” Jessica answered, sitting down to comfort Olivia. Everyone’s attention turned to the opening of the doors. Ivor walked out slowly.
