“So, what’s the plan?” Axel asked, following Jessica. “I don’t know. My plan is to find shelter or something. We’ll go from there.” She answered, being snappy, but trying not to be so much at Axel.

“Sorry about back there. I don’t know about Olivia, but I didn’t want to leave him back there.” Axel apologized. “I know. The only thing that ticks me off is that Olivia didn’t show any guilt. That was her own fucking friend.” Jessica sighed.

“But I don’t fully forgive you yet.” Jessica continued. “Understandable.” He nodded. Axel became real silent after the ‘incident’. His thoughts were racing through his head.

He couldn’t help but think about how much Jesse begged them to stay, not to leave him behind. How he wished he didn’t leave him behind. Axel took a deep breath. “I wish that Lukas didn’t go down there.” Jessica replied. “I feel bad for not being there for him. Like he said, I’m his best friend.” She sighed.

“I wanted to ask one of you at some point, but IS Lukas immune?” Axel asked. Jessica remained silent, stopping in her tracks. “Jessica?” Axel asked.

“Yes. He kept it secret from everyone. The only reason I know is because I overheard a conversation between him and Ivor. He didn’t want to make himself a target for anything. But he did want to help. Hell, I overheard a conversation of Lukas SACRIFICING himself to save Maya. I’m not surprised if he’s going to do the same with Jesse.”

Axel stayed silent, shocked. “You see now why I’m friends with Lukas? He may be a bit of a coward at times, but he will help his friends out. Hell, he sacrificed himself so Jesse wouldn’t die alone.” Jessica answered. “Yeah. Do you know what happened between the two? They became oddly closer.” Axel pointed out.

“Don’t know. I’m just glad it wasn’t a full-blown fight with anyone except a couple of people and Ivor. But that was Ivor’s fault.” Jessica added. “So Lukas can help us find the cure, and Jesse’s infected...” Axel began. Jessica stopped in her tracks. “WE CAN CURE JESSE!” She realized.

“Only Ivor knew how to-” Jessica began. She turned to Axel. “What did you see down there while you were being chased by Ivor?” She asked. “A bunch of papers and notes, along with a full book.” He answered. “We can check those!” She answered.

“Let’s go then!” Axel insisted. “Wait... do you know if Aiden’s dead.” Jessica asked. “I mean the man is missing his organs.” Axel added. “Well no shit! I mean did Ivor kill him when he killed Maya.” Jessica asked again, irritated.

“I don’t know, I wasn’t with him when he did.” Axel answered honestly. “We’ll get supplies, find shelter for the night, sleep, then go in the morning, we did walk quite far away.” Jessica suggested. “Alright.” Axel shrugged.
