Jesse was going to find Axel. “Axel!?” Jesse yelled out. Jesse saw Olivia’s shadow on the wall. She seemed to be in another room, muttering something. Jesse carefully approached the room, peeking his head around the corner. “No one has to know... no one WILL know. No one’s GOING to know.” She muttered.
She rolled up her sleeve, showing a big bright purple spot, light purple veins covering her arm. She was infected. “Olivia?” Jesse added, shocked. She turned around, seeing him. She looked terrified. “I-I’m so sorry... I-I didn’t mean to try and hurt you... not anyone...” She apologized. She didn’t mean to?
Then it clicked. She was hostile and aggressive because of the infection. Petra was like this, too. It also explained why she was so invested in a cure. She didn’t want to be infected. Immediate guilt filled Jesse. He remembered back at the Order’s temple before Petras ran away. Before any of this. Before anyone KNEW, she was infected. Jesse snapped back into reality.
“Olivia, I don’t blame you.”
“W-what!?” She stuttered. “B-but I hurt you! I-I hurt others!-” “I know. But I forgive you.” Jesse interrupted. She started to tear up, hugging him tightly. “I didn’t mean to...” She cried. “H-have you tried the cure?” Jesse asked. “It might help...”
“It doesn’t work. It doesn’t do anything to me. I still remain like this. It makes it worse!” Olivia explained. His eyes widened. “Then we’ll keep improving it, I know you can fight it. You have for so long, I believe in you.” Jesse replied, trying to encourage and comfort her. “I-I’ll try and keep strong.” She answered, pulling down her sleeve. Jesse grinned.
Lukas rushed from down the halls, breathing heavily. “WE HAVE A PROBLEM!” He alerted us. “What do you mean ‘problem’?” Jesse asked. “Follow me.” Lukas exclaimed, running off, Jesse and Olivia following. They went outside to the huge balcony thing on Olivia’s base. Jesse immediately realized what.
The Witherstorm was back. “I-I thought it was dead!!” Olivia exclaimed. “Do the others know about this?” Jesse asked. Lukas nodded. “We noticed through the big window in the laboratory. Me and Jessica went outside to get a closer look out here.” Lukas answered. Worry filled Jesse. How could it have come back? It was gone for a while. Olivia slammed her hand on the railing, Jesse snapping out from his thoughts and Lukas’s attention.
“We need to leave. Now.”
