Axel and Olivia walked out of the area, guilt filling them. “There you guys are-” Jessica began, running towards them. She immediately stopped, seeing that Jesse wasn’t with them, Lukas following. “Where’s Jesse?” Jessica asked. They stayed silent. Jessica became more stern.
“Where’s Jesse.” Jessica asked again, knowing something was up. Axel began to speak, Olivia quickly shutting it down. “We did what had to be done.” Olivia answered, keeping it vague. Jessica grew more angry. “Where is my brother.” Jessica demanded.
“It was for everyone’s safety.” Olivia added. “WHERE. IS. MY. BROTHER.” Jessica continued.
“We had no choice!”
“WHERE IS HE.”
“It would have put everyone in danger!”
“ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTION!” Jessica said in an outburst. Olivia stayed silent. Jessica didn’t stop. “WHERE IS MY FUCKING BROTHER?!” Jessica yelled. Axel sighed. “Axel, don’t you dare.” Olivia replied. “We left him behind.” Axel admitted. Jessica and Lukas were shocked. “You what.” Jessica snapped.
“He got scratched! There was no way to save him!” Olivia added. “YOU DIDN’T KNOW THAT! YOU JUST LEFT HIM BECAUSE YOU WERE WORRIED FOR YOUR OWN FUCKING SAFETY!” Jessica argued. “We wanted to help him, but there was no way we could!-” “SHUT UP!” Lukas yelled.
Lukas walked to the entrance. “ARE YOU CRAZY!? YOU’LL GET KILLED!?” Axel yelled. “I don’t care.” Lukas stated. “But-” “I DON’T CARE!” Lukas snapped. “I’ve lost all my friends! Jesse was one of the only people who was actually there! Neither of you three cared! Even my own best friend.” Lukas argued, looking at Jessica.
“Lukas,-” “No! I’m done! If I’m going to be stuck with you guys, I’m out!” Lukas stated, turning around. “I’d rather be infected and be with someone who actually gives a fuck about me, than survive with people who obviously don’t care for anyone but themselves.” Lukas added, walking back in.
Jessica sighed, looking at the two. “We’re finding an answer to this.” She replied, turning away. “I’ll find it myself.” Olivia answered. “Fine. I’ll go find a solution myself.” Jessica scoffed, turning around and walking away. Axel stayed silent for a moment.
“Wait!” Axel called out. Jessica turned around. “I’ll help.” He added. Jessica raised an eyebrow. “It’s my fault he’s infected, anyways. Might as well save others.” Axel insisted. Jessica nodded.
“Good to know one of you feel remorse.” Jessica answered. Axel followed behind her. “Fine! I don’t need any of your guy’s help anyway!” Olivia stated, walking in a different direction.
And just like that, they split up again. Once a big group of friends, getting along, now rivals and separate, hating each other for different reasons, right or wrong, determined at their goals.
