Jessica and Axel split up, finding supplies to bring back. Axel didn’t think it was the brightest idea, but he didn’t want to cause more fights and arguments. That moment ran through his head. About what happened in the ‘shelter’. It was his fault after all. If he threw it sooner, maybe he could have saved Jesse.

Maybe they wouldn’t be in this situation, separated, hating each other. At least they could find Lukas. He didn’t like him, but what’s the point in fighting? There’s no point. Almost everyone’s dead. It’s better to get along.

He just shouldn’t have left Jesse behind in the first place. Maybe Olivia was wrong, maybe they could have him. “It’s all my fault.” He said to himself silently. He immediately took his anger out, kicking a nearby tree. “Dammit.” He replied. He eventually got supplies to distract himself.

As he walked back, he noticed something... an infected. Axel hid behind a tree, trying to look at who it was. He immediately recognized. It was missing a head, green armor. Magnus. “Fuck.” He muttered, he snuck to the area where Jessica.

“There you-” She began, before Axel covered her mouth. “Don’t. Move.” Axel warned. “An infected is near. They can’t see or hear, but they can damn well feel vibrations.” Axel added. Jessica nodded. Axel uncovered her mouth. “Let’s get out of here.” Jessica whispered.

Along the walk there, the thoughts didn’t stop. Axel almost wanted to rip his hair out or something. It was getting to the point where he just wanted to run back there right now. “You good, Axel?” Jessica asked. “No. Not even close.” He answered honestly.

“I get it. I feel bad for what happened back there too.” Jessica sighed. “It’s not just that. I wished I helped Jesse, that we didn’t leave him behind, that we didn’t save him... That I didn’t save him.”Axel answered.

“I get it. I’m sorry for how I acted back there. I can see why you did it, but I wished we could at least TRY and help him.” Jessica apologized.

“It’s fine. It’s my fault anyways.” Axel admitted.

“Axel. It’s not. It’s no one’s fault. I get the thought process. I still don’t like the fact Olivia wouldn’t tell us, but I do get why she thought that. But I still rather know. Plus, I know why you did it. I just wished we could have at least maybe tried.”

“Thanks, but it doesn’t make the fact that Jesse might die any better.” He replied. “I know, I just wanted you to know I’m sorry. I did say some fucked up shit back there.” Jessica admitted guiltfully. “Let’s just try and find shelter so we can get outta here quicker tomorrow.” Axel insisted.

“We can stop at this cave coming up for the night.” Jessica pointed out. “I don’t care honestly, I don’t even know if I’ll be able to sleep.” Axel added. “I feel you.” Jessica agreed.
