Author's POV
Adhrit was standing numb at his place, replaying Anaisha's threat in his mind over and over again, until Arjun shook his shoulders and broke his trance.
"Calm down, baccha. Come sit here.", Arjun said with utmost care, and gently guided Adhrit to sit on the sofa.
"Have some water, my child. Look at you, your breathing has become uneven.", Mamta said softly, handing him a glass and making him drink some water.
"What is happening here? Care to explain, Mister?", This time, Kriya spoke sharply, her eyes narrowed into death glares directed at Adhrit.
"Be sensitive, Kriya! Look at him - what state is he in right now?", Namish scolded her, before sitting beside Adhrit.
Comforting him, he asked lovingly, "Is there anything you want to tell us? No problem, if you don't want to share right now, just tell us, whenever you feel like, beta."
Adhrit looked at his father with teary eyes. Unable to control his emotions any longer, he suddenly hugged Namish tightly, and began crying softly in his embrace.
Namish said nothing, though his heart clenched watching his son break down like this. He simply continued to soothe him, rubbing his back gently, until after some time, Adhrit's sobs subsided.
Slowly, Adhrit pulled back, and looked at his father, who gave him an encouraging nod through his eyes.
Gathering all the courage inside him, Adhrit finally said, "I want to tell you now - everything, whatever happened!"
And then, haltingly at first, but with growing emotion, Adhrit started narrating everything to them, from the very beginning - how he and Anaisha met, what happened after that, how she put forth her offer, how she pretended to change and even apologized to him, how slowly and steadily, she trapped him in her lies, how he started to like her, and finally, how he discovered the truth about her that day.
By the time Adhrit finished his narration, everybody's eyes were wide with shock.
They simply could not believe that, Adhrit had gotten entangled with Anaisha Mehrotra - the only daughter of the one and only Pranay Mehrotra.
"Adhrit, in the flow of emotions, you made a mistake. You don't know them - they are dangerous people. I did not get a good feeling from the way, Jeet was looking at you, and Anaisha's threat isn't helping either.", Arjun stated, clearly tense.
Adhrit too regretted his decision of lashing out at Anaisha, but he reasoned with himself, and explained, "I didn't want to do it, Bhai, but I was too emotional at that moment to think straight. Not just this time, but every time, the situation was alike, I was too overwhelmed. It was just the heat of the moment."
Namish patted his son's head consolingly, and said, "It's okay, bea. Whatever happened, has already happened. We cannot fix the past. Although, I can't assure you that, everything will be fine immediately, I can assure you of one thing - that no matter what, your family will always stand by you in every situation."
Everyone agreed with Namish's statement. They all loved Adhrit equally, and obviously, it wasn't the fault of that poor boy, that he had caught the attention of such a girl.
Adhrit, overwhelmed by their support, looked at his family lovingly, wondering, how he could be so lucky to have them as his own.
Namish then got up from his seat and, joining his hands in front of Bhaskar, said in a guilty tone, "I am really very sorry, Bhaskar. I had absolutely no idea, that all this could happen. I never intended to insult you, but whatever happened, was far from pleasant. I heartily apologize for that. Honestly, I doubt that we can proceed with this wedding, until the problems get sorted. And as per the situation, even if we do proceed with the wedding, my only concern would be Bani. I do not want her to suffer because of us. I am sorry!"
