Author's POV

Almost a week had passed, since Adhrit started working in his new office, and his entire time was spent very well working there.

Although, he still often felt that, someone was around him, following him, staring at him keenly, but he shrugged away all his thoughts, labelling them as his overthinking, and hallucination.

It was the evening of Sunday, and Adhrit decided to freshen up his mood, by going out.

Once, he was done, he stopped at a cafe, and his eyes lit up. Without wasting another second, he entered the cafe, and took a seat.

He grabbed the menu, which was kept on the table, and started reading each item carefully, trying to decide, what should he order for himself.

He was going through the menu keenly, just when someone tapped his shoulder from behind, startling him.

He hastily turned to see, who it was, only to get more shocked after watching the face of person, who was standing now right infront of him, with a huge grin on face.

"Nia...", the words escaped his mouth in utter disbelief and shock, as if he didn't expect to see her here.

Nia, on the other side, had the expressions of amusement on her face.

Without letting him think, or say anything else, Nia moved forward, and engulfed him in a friendly hug.

Immediately feelings of discomfort took over him, and he gently pushed Nia away from himself.

He forced a small smile, in an attempt to mask his discomfort and nervousness, but failed miserably, because his eyes spoke louder than anything else ever could.

The feeling of discomfort lingering in his beautiful ocean blue eyes couldn't even remain hidden from Nia.

She laughed a little and said jokingly, "You are still the same. Just like you were in the graduation time. Getting uncomfortable even at the slightest touch."

At her this remark, Adhrit's face flushed with embarrassment. "I am sorry. You know me, right? I don't like much physical touch."

Nia nodded her head, a polite smile gracing her lips. "Yea, I know. No need to be embarrassed about it. Everyone have their own nature, and you don't need to change your nature because of someone else."

Adhrit smiled softly at her answer, and offered her a seat. "Why are you standing? Please have a seat."

Nia smiled with enthusiasm, and took a seat infront of him.

Adhrit asked with a polite smile, "I was going to order a coffee for myself. Tell me, what would you like to have?"

Nia smiled back at him. "A cappuccino would work best.", Her voice was sweet.

Adhrit smiled, and called the waiter to place order for both of them, after which, both of them got engrossed in their conversation.

The soft clinking of cutlery and the low hum of conversations filled the café’s warm interior.

The scene was soft, and lively. Adhrit sat near the window, sunlight filtering through the glass and painting half his face in gold. Across from him, sat Nia — his college friend, he hadn’t seen in months.

Her animated gestures and bubbly laughter filled their corner, and for the first time in a while, Adhrit allowed himself to laugh too.

It wasn’t forced — just the kind of effortless amusement, that came with old memories resurfacing.

"Remember that professor who—" Nia began, but her words trailed off, as Adhrit chuckled, leaning back in his chair, sipping his coffee.

Outside the cafe, a car rolled to a stop near the curb, sputtering like, it was on its last breath.
