Author's POV
The cabin door creaked open, and Jeet stepped inside. His usual playful smirk tugged at the corner of his lips, as he entered.
His gaze immediately fell on Anaisha, who was seated on her rolling chair, staring blankly ahead, clearly lost in thought.
A mischievous glint appeared in his eyes.
"What deep thoughts are you lost in? Oh, wait... I should ask this instead... Whose thoughts are you lost in, baby sister?" he asked teasingly, instantly pulling her out of her trance.
She looked at him with slight surprise, then spoke with a smile, "Bhai, when did you get here?"
"Just as you were so thoroughly lost in your dear little husband's thoughts." he replied, maintaining his mischievous tone.
Her cheeks warmed instantly at his direct comment, but she quickly masked her embarrassment with a scoff, rolling her eyes dramatically.
"Don't start, Bhai." she muttered, trying to sound completely unaffected.
"Oh, I'll start, and finish both." he grinned, strolling casually over to her desk and leaning lazily against it. "You were smiling to yourself, gently tapping that pen, staring at the window like some lovesick Bollywood heroine... don't think, I didn't notice it."
"I was just... thinking about work." she replied, lifting her chin defiantly.
"Work? Really?" He arched a brow, drawing out the word skepticism. "So... work these days wears a certain boy's face, hmm? Handsome, cute, attractive, and goes by the name—"
"Bhai!" she cut him off sharply, glaring at him, but her voice was a touch too high, a touch too defensive.
A slow, knowing smirk spread across his face. "Adhrit Mishra!" he finished, stating the name deliberately to tease her further.
A small, fond smile betrayed her resolve, creeping onto her lips at the mention of her husband. She quickly turned away, burying herself in the files on her desk, and asked, pretending to be utterly normal, "Did you come here for some work?"
He smiled. "Nothing much. I didn't know you would be coming today, so I came here to check on you upon learning of your arrival. And..."
He paused for effect, then continued with a highly amused smile, "I also got to know about the new Business Analyst recruitment, but... upon reaching here, I was shocked myself to see his face. Didn't know, though, that the Vice President was already busy romancing the new Business Analyst."
A flash of genuine irritation marred her face, and she spoke in a slightly complaining tone, "That is enough, Bhai! Aren't you done with your teasing session yet? Well, he is my husband, and I can do whatever I want with him, whenever I want, wherever I want."
He laughed at her intense reaction. "Okay, okay... I am not saying another word. I'll leave after a bit. I ordered coffee for you and myself."
Having said that, he comfortably settled himself onto a chair, waiting for the coffee to arrive.
She didn't stop him, instead burying her head back into her files, focusing on controlling her blush.
Meanwhile, Adhrit was leaning against a wall in the quiet corridor of the Vice President's floor.
His breathing was still heavy — a slight red hue covering his cheeks persistently.
His mind kept replaying the scene in the cabin on a continuous loop, deepening the blush, that constantly crept up his neck.
His heart was still beating wildly, as if he had just sprinted a mile without rest.
He sighed heavily, shutting his eyes. The cabin’s air still seemed to cling to him — the faint scent of her expensive perfume, the fleeting memory of her hand brushing his, her voice dipping low in that teasing tone that always seemed to wrap around him like velvet.
