Author's POV

£ Next Morning

Early in the morning, soft light spilled across the balcony floor. The sun was slowly rising, but Adhrit remained unaffected by it.

He was lying on the outdoor couch, where he had collapsed last night. He had gone out to sit there, hoping to calm his worries about Anaisha, but ended up sleeping while desperately waiting for her to return, but she never came.

As the sun rays grew harsher, and fell straight onto his face, his eyes fluttered open. He looked around, confused at first, then remembered he had fallen asleep here while waiting for Anaisha. The memory brought an instant rush of sadness and anxiety.

The first thing he did was look back at the room. It was exactly the same as last night; Anaisha hadn't come back at all.

Seeing this, a wave of sadness washed over him, though he couldn't quite understand why. He was the one, who had practically pushed her away, and now, he was the one waiting desperately for her return. The confusion of his own heart was painful.

Flashes from the previous day's painful confession began playing in his mind, clear and loud:

"You wanted to see me like this, right?"

"You wanted me to confess, that I get affected by you, right?"

"I don't hate you. I love you... Damn it, I love you so much, that it's destroying me from the inside. I am living in the guilt of loving someone, who hurt my family..."

His own voice echoed sharply in his mind. He couldn't believe those words had come from him.

He sighed, slowly mumbling, "I shouldn't have told her all that... How could I be so weak? How the hell did I lose control, and say all that, opening myself up like that?"

"I shouldn't have done that.... I messed up, badly!" he muttered under his breath, feeling a deep wave of regret. He stood up stiffly, and went inside the room to quickly get ready.

When he emerged from the washroom, freshly showered, he hurriedly dried his hair, and stepped out of the room. Today, the whole mansion seemed strangely quiet, much quieter than usual. He tried to ignore the oddity, and started descending the stairs.

Before he could even reach the ground floor, the voice of a servant halted his steps.

"Sir, Pranay Sir told me to let you know, he is waiting for you in the study room upstairs.", the servant announced, looking up at him.

Adhrit was surprised by the sudden summon, but didn't show much reaction. Nodding slightly, he turned, and went back upstairs.

Reaching the study room door, he knocked, and upon receiving permission, went inside. He was greeted by the sight of Pranay flipping through some files on his desk. Adhrit walked straight and stood in front of him.

Pranay stopped, what he was doing, looked up, and without speaking, signaled him to sit. Adhrit quietly took the chair placed opposite the desk.

Adhrit waited for Pranay to speak, but the older man only observed him quietly - his expression serious. Pranay sighed, and finally broke the silence.

"You wanted to go to your home, right?"

The question totally surprised Adhrit. He looked at Pranay with uncertainty, wondering, if this was some kind of trick, but then slowly nodded his head in confirmation.

Pranay looked at him for a few seconds, then said with a sigh, "Okay then. Get ready. The driver will drop you at your home."

Adhrit blinked several times in disbelief. Shock and surprise were clearly plastered on his face. This was completely unexpected for him.
