Author’s POV

The sun had already began to set, and with it, the time was nearing with each passing second — the wedding time.

Namish sat on the edge of his bed, his face tense, thoughts churning restlessly.

He had been uneasy ever since the engagement. The incidents during the haldi function had only confirmed his worst fears — this marriage was going to bring nothing, but problems for Adhrit.

"It’s too dangerous.", he muttered under his breath, running a hand through his hair. "If so many conspiracies are happening before the marriage, then what after it? No, I can’t let this wedding happen. I’ll speak to Adhrit today itself. I have a plan… I’ll take him away."

Resolute, he stood up and was about to walk quickly toward Adhrit’s room, but stopped midways, when he witnessed Arjun and Kriya standing at the door his room with surprised expressions on their faces.

Both of them asked in unison with utmost excitement in their voices, "What is the plan?"

Namish's eyes widened for a moment, but then, he sighed, pulled both of them inside the room. Locking the door, he started explaining everything to them.

Meanwhile, Adhrit sat quietly in his room, staring out of the window at the dusky sky.

The faint orange light of the setting sun spilled across his face, highlighting the heaviness in his eyes. His hands rested on his knees, motionless, as though life itself had drained out of him.

The exhaustion from morning, haldi ceremony chaos was written all over his face.

As his mind began thinking about the morning incident once again, his face twisted with the expressions of anger and suspicion.

"Every function… something or the other goes wrong." he whispered to himself. "First that stupid engagement drama, and now this haldi ceremony drama.... It's all happening purposely. Everything is pre-planned. But who did it?" His brows furrowed, his voice laced with suspicion.

His mind replayed every little detail, and then, a name slipped from his lips. "That Surpanakha bua ji… she didn’t seem happy. She is the one, who created drama at the engagement ceremony as well. And even today, she was hopping around more than anyone else, like a popcorn in hot oil. Could it be her? Is she the one, who deliberately trapped my Papa? And if so… what else has she planned?"

He sighed heavily — his voice laced with irritation. "Hey bhagwan, ye sab mere sath hi kyu ho raha hai? Abhi shadi hui bhi nahi hai, aur abhi se log mere khilaf aisi chale chalne lage hain. Pata nahi, shadi ke baad kya hoga? Please Bhagwan ji, save me, mujhe ye shadi nahi karni hai..."

(Oh God, why is all this happening to me? I am not even married yet, and people have started plotting like this against me. I don't know, what will happen after marriage? Please God, save me, I don't want to do this marriage.)

By the time he reached the end, his voice became sad, and heavy with emotions.

He knew what awaited him in a few hours. The marriage. The shackles. The end of the freedom, he had barely tasted. And as much as his soul cried out against it, he also knew, he was too weak to fight it alone.

The thought unsettled him further. Just as he was drowning in these thoughts, a sharp knock on the door jolted him back.

He shrugged away his thoughts, got up from his place, and went to open the door.

The door creaked softly. Adhrit lifted his lashes to look, and found Arjun entering first, followed by Namish and Kriya. Their faces were tense, eyes sharp, movements careful, as though every step carried a secret, that should never be overheard.
