Author's POV
£ Mishra Nivas - Midnight
The night refused to pass.
Adhrit lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, the dim glow of the night lamp casting shifting shadows across his room. His hands were behind his head, but his mind wasn't at rest. Not even close.
Road Side Moral Values Lecturer.
Stand-on-road-and-lecture-people' kind of person.
Reckless, and useless.
If you need to do some work like sweeping and mopping, then let me know for sure.
Her words kept echoing in his head like a broken record. His jaw clenched. Her eyes - sharp, mocking, unforgettable - kept flashing before him every time he blinked.
Who the hell did she think she was?
He had never faced such humiliation in his life before.
He could not even tell anyone about this in his house, because his family members might get worried.
He told the same thing to his father and brother, that the interviewer was very egoistic and that is why, his interview did not go well, and he did not get the job.
But now, he was feeling a little scared, because he knew that the girl was very influential, and Arjun also worked in the same company.
He was not afraid for himself, he was only afraid that, she might find out that Arjun is his brother, and she might take out her anger on Arjun.
He himself didn't know, what would happen next, so at the moment, all he could do was pray.
He closed his, trying to sleep, and luckily, this time, he even fell asleep.
£ Next Morning - 5:23 AM
Adhrit was sleeping, but his sleep broke abruptly.
He tried to fall asleep by tossing and turning for about ten minutes, but when he could not fall asleep again, he sat up in frustration.
As soon as he woke up, once again the words Anaisha had said earlier, started playing in his mind, and he grabbed his hair in frustration.
Without wasting a moment, he got up from the bed, threw on his sweatshirt and joggers, plugged in his earphones, and left for a run.
The morning air was sharp and cold, just the way he liked it. It helped him breathe again. Helped him burn off the fury brewing inside him, and calm his mind.

Anaisha stood infront of the large glass window, watching the calm city - but her mind was not at all calm.
She sighed, and walked towards her chair, settling on her.
Her long fingers tapping against the polished wood, her eyes narrowed on the screen in front of her. Her office was still dark except for the bluish glow of her monitor, casting an eerie shine on her face.
She had slept no more than two hours.
No matter how much she tried to shove him out of her head, he kept coming back, so she came to her office.
That little spark in his eyes. The way he dared to talk back. The way he stormed out without waiting for her final word.
No man had ever done that to her before.
And it burned.
Who was he?
Where did he get the audacity from?
