Author's POV

£ Vice President's Cabin

Adhrit stayed in her arms for a long moment, listening to the steady rhythm of her heartbeats.

It grounded him, soothed him, even as he was still catching his breath from her sudden storm.

The world outside felt distant, irrelevant, as if time itself had slowed down to match the quiet intensity of the space between them.

Anaisha's fingers threaded slowly through his hair, not speaking — because she didn't need to. Every brush of her fingers, every subtle shift of her body, spoke volumes, that words could never capture. Her presence enveloped him, creating a fragile, sacred bubble of calm amid the chaos of their lives.

When he finally lifted his head, their eyes met. For the first time, there was no shyness in his gaze — only a quiet acceptance, an unspoken surrender, that he wasn't even aware, he was giving her.

It was a surrender of the heart, subtle yet profound, and it made the room feel charged with an unspoken promise.

"You scare me sometimes..." he admitted in a hushed voice. "But… not in a bad way. I don't know why, but I like it."

Her lips curved into that dangerously beautiful smile again, because he was opening up to her, allowing himself to be vulnerable, to feel at ease with her. "Good. Because I don't want you to be afraid of me… I just want you to know, I can burn the whole world, if it means keeping you with me."

He didn't answer, but the faint blush on his cheeks betrayed the way her words landed — deep, unshakable, leaving traces of warmth that spread slowly through him.

Outside the office window, the city moved as usual, unaware that inside this quiet cabin, a storm and a sanctuary existed in the same embrace.

Against the sheer intensity of the moment they shared, the entire world dissolved into silence and shadow

She pressed a light kiss to his temple — a rare tenderness after her earlier fire — and whispered, "Now go… before I forget we're in the office."

He let out a small laugh, shaking his head, and walked toward the door. Just before stepping out, he glanced back at her, something unspoken in his eyes.

She caught it instantly — and it made her heart twist, just a little softer than she expected, a mixture of warmth and longing.

When the door closed, she leaned back in her chair, exhaling slowly. The fire inside her had dimmed, but not gone. It lingered like a quiet ember, ready to flare up if ever needed.

Because somewhere in the back of her mind, a vow had already been written in stone — she would protect him from everything, even from people who didn't yet know they were a threat.

She knew he was her husband, and one day or another, this truth would have to be revealed to the whole world. Along with this, he would also come under the radar of her enemies — from whom he had to be saved.

She still remembered her father's advice, when he was narrating the incident of her grandmother's death.

"Remember this always, princess. This world is very cruel, and if you want to survive here while protecting your loved ones, then you have to become like them. Show your love to the person you love, but never show others that side of yours. They should only be aware of your cruel side, so they think more than a thousand times before even daring to hurt your loved one."

A cruel smile curved her lips, as she whispered dangerously, "Anyone who even looks at you with wrong intentions, I will pluck out their eyes. Nobody has the right to hurt you… nobody. I will always preserve your innocence… forever."
