Author’s POV
Adhrit and Jeet were still sitting in the hall — their eyes locked in a deadly staring competition, when Naveen appeared after getting ready for the party.
The sharp tension between the two finally broke, when the sound of Naveen’s footsteps echoed through the marble floor, drawing closer.
Jeet immediately turned his head, and smiled at Naveen, complimenting with an approving look, "You’re looking very handsome..."
"Who do you intend to strike lightning on today with those looks?" he teased playfully.
But beneath that teasing tone, the words were meant more for Adhrit, who still hadn’t taken his eyes off him — his gaze cold and murderous.
Adhrit shot a sharp glare toward both Naveen and Jeet, and replied mockingly, "Yeah, and he didn’t even take much time to get ready... seems like, he’s in a hurry to leave for the party!"
Jeet instantly caught the mockery hidden in Adhrit’s tone, and his lips curved upward into a knowing smirk.
Naveen, however, didn’t sense the tension, and replied casually with a smile, "Yeah, I really am in a hurry. It’s already getting late. Anaisha should also come soon, so that we can leave."
Adhrit’s hands clenched into tight fists at the mention of Anaisha, but he somehow managed to maintain his composure.
Just then, Anaisha descended the stairs gracefully and came to stand near them. Looking at Naveen, she said with a soft smile, "Let’s go... I’m ready."
Everyone’s eyes immediately shifted toward her.
But Adhrit’s eyes — they refused to move away from her.
Naveen looked at Anaisha — admiration visible in his gaze. He complimented her with a wide smile, "You’re looking so pretty! Your brother said that, I’m going to strike lightning on someone tonight, but I think, it’s actually you, who’s going to strike lightning on everyone’s heart at the party tonight."
Adhrit’s jaw tightened instantly. His pulse quickened, as anger and something far more dangerous burned within him. He couldn't tolerate that Naveen was praising Anaisha.
He wanted to ignore everything — ignore her presence, but no matter how much he wanted to deny it, he couldn’t stop himself from staring — because she truly did look breathtaking.
Anaisha was dressed in an elegant black gown — floor-length, and off-shoulder from one side. Her bold makeup, smoky eyes, bright red lipstick, and glittery high heels enhanced her beauty to perfection. She looked like sin wrapped in silk — graceful, confident, and utterly mesmerizing.
Adhrit’s eyes remained fixed on her, tracing every detail, every soft movement.
He kept trying to remind himself that he hated her — for everything she had done — but his heart refused to obey him. His heartbeat quickened, and his eyes betrayed him, refusing to leave her even for a second.
He had to admit it to himself — she looked absolutely stunning tonight.
But what disturbed him more than her beauty was the way Naveen’s gaze lingered on her for a moment too long. And even more disturbing was the thought, that she would be attending a high-class party, surrounded by men of her stature — none of whom knew she was married — married to him.
A sharp pang of jealousy, and insecurity struck his chest, and he immediately looked away — his jaw hardened in an attempt to control his inner turmoil.
Anaisha’s voice broke his trance. She was smiling softly, thanking Naveen for the compliment. "Thank you... that was so sweet of you!" she said, her tone polite, but teasingly gentle.
