Author's POV

Adhrit's eyes were fixed on Kriya — firmly demanding an answer.

Kriya looked into those familiar eyes — the same eyes, that once used to chase her around the house for games, beg her for late-night stories, and hide behind her back, whenever he wanted to escape scoldings.

But today, those eyes were demanding the truth. And she knew, she couldn't lie to them.

Her lips trembled, and her gaze instinctively lowered toward the ground.

She knew, this moment was inevitable. Sooner or later, she would have to tell everyone, as her exams were over, and her family would start talking about her, and Harsh's wedding preparations.

She simply could not marry him. She had to tell her family the whole, difficult truth.

So, she strengthened her resolve from within, preparing herself to make a tough, immediate decision.

She decided to narrate the entire incident from the previous night, believing it was the only way to avoid far greater problems in the future.

She was deeply lost in her own thoughts, when she suddenly heard Jeet's voice. "Why are you forcing her to speak, if she isn't comfortable right now?"

Adhrit instantly shot him a sharp glare, and stated bluntly, "Listen, Mr. Junior Mehrotra... This matter is between my sister and me. So, kindly, do not interfere between us!"

Jeet's eyebrows arched upward in sheer amusement, and he started looking at Adhrit with a clear, engaging interest, enjoying the confrontation.

Kriya quickly held Adhrit's hand tightly, and gave him a meaningful stare, which immediately silenced him.

He looked back at her with a remarkably innocent face, as if asking her, why she was looking at him with such expressions, when he had done nothing wrong.

Kriya sighed heavily, the sound almost one of pure exhaustion. "Let's go inside. Whatever you need to know, I will tell you inside, in front of everyone. They also deserve to know the truth."

She paused for a brief second, glanced swiftly at Jeet, and then, shifting her focus back entirely to Adhrit, she commanded in a strict tone, "And you will not say anything further to him. Behave properly like a good boy. He will come inside with us."

Hearing this clear instruction, Adhrit's face fell slightly, a flicker of irritation crossing his features, but he kept quiet. He walked inside the house, still clutching Kriya's hand securely.

Following closely behind them, Jeet also walked inside, as he too had come specifically to see his sister.

As they entered the main living room, the gentle murmur of family chatter ceased instantly.

Everyone's attention focused on the trio — Kriya, holding Adhrit's hand like a protective anchor, and Jeet, walking behind them with an air of silent, self-assured authority.

Everyone in the room was surprised to see Jeet there, especially Anaisha. Without hesitation, she quickly got up from her place, immediately went near Jeet, and hugged him tightly.

Jeet reciprocated, wrapping his arms around her securely, and kissed her forehead lovingly.

Anaisha smiled genuinely, and breaking away from the embrace, she asked him questioningly, "Why are you suddenly here, Bhai?"

Jeet smiled, and while casting a deliberate, sideways glance at Adhrit, he said in a teasing tone, "I came to drop off your lovely husband's only lovely sister. So, I naturally thought, I should meet my lovely sister too. By the way, I should really thank your sister-in-law, Kriya, because she is the only one, who actually brought me in. Otherwise, your loving husband was trying to chase me right out the door."
