Author's POV
Adhrit stood frozen at his place — utterly speechless.
His cheeks burned with shyness and embarrassment, because she not only winked at him, but also blowed a little kiss in his direction. And what made him more shy was that, she did all this in front of his whole family.
He quickly regained his composure back, and asked in a slightly rude tone, "What are you doing here?"
Anaisha smiled — a cheek to cheek smile.
That very smile worked on Adhrit far too well — it made his heartbeat quicken, and irritated him at the same time.
She replied with the same smile still plastered on her lips, "I guess, you already heard, what I told Mumma and Papa just a few seconds ago. So why are you asking me the same question again, my dear husband?"
Adhrit’s eyes widened, and his voice came out in a shocked tone. "What did you just say? Mumma and Papa… they’re my mumma and papa! Do you get it?"
He looked exactly like a jealous little kid, who didn’t want to share his parents with anyone — which, unintentionally, made him look adorable.
Anaisha couldn’t stop herself from smiling, because Adhrit looked irresistibly cute right now.
But Adhrit’s irritation grew beyond control, as he saw her still smiling.
He stepped closer to her, held her by the arm, and said sternly, "You... First of all, stop smiling. And now tell me clearly, what’s your motive for coming here? First, you sent me here all of a sudden, and now you’ve come yourself. May I know, how you suddenly remembered that, you’re the daughter-in-law of this house, and should stay here? And don’t you dare play games with me…"
Anaisha’s smile didn’t fade — not even after hearing his words.
Instead, she smiled more vibrantly, gently removed Adhrit’s hand from her arm, and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Her action made Adhrit freeze instantly on his spot. They were now standing close enough to feel each other's breath, and his whole family was watching.
But she ignored everyone else’s presence. She stepped even closer, making his breath hitch.
Her lips brushed near his ear as she whispered softly, "This isn’t a game, my Love — it’s a war for me. You didn’t want to accept me as your wife, because of your family, right? Then now, I’ll first make them accept me as their daughter-in-law. Once that happens, you’ll automatically have to accept me as your wife. Fair enough, right, my Love?"
Adhrit's breath got caught in his throat, as he finally processed what she was planning in her mind.
He looked at her in disbelief. She was unpredictable — he had never imagined, she would do something like this.
Confused emotions clouded his mind — mixed emotions flashed in his eyes.
She had two options — she could have ignored everything, and let him live in her mansion like earlier, or she could have left him here at his own home.
But instead, she went beyond his imagination and chose to win the hearts of his family — so that he would never feel guilty for falling in love with the woman, who had once made his family suffer.
That single thought was enough to provide warmth to his heart in an unfamiliar way.
Anaisha softly brushed her lips against his ear for a brief second, then stepped back, maintaining a decent distance between them.
