Author's POV
Adhrit and that girl, both looked simultaneously in the direction, from where the sound had come.
But the moment Adhrit saw Anaisha standing there — her intense eyes blazing, and an extreme dark aura surrounding her, he froze on the spot and his breath hitched.
He felt his heartbeat rising, and suddenly his gaze shifted from her anger-filled face to her feet, near which a flower vase lay broken — it had probably fallen from the small table kept right next to it, and that was the reason for the earlier sound.
Adhrit immediately looked away, because he knew very well, he wouldn't be able to hold her intense, dark stare for long. Her eyes were filled with obsession — the obsession, that had unwantedly became his destiny.
Adhrit's eyes widened, and he gulped hard, when he realised, that the stranger girl he bumped with, was still in his arms.
He hurriedly loosened his grip on her, and took two to three steps back, releasing a breath of relief.
He could still feel the echo of the broken vase in the hush of that silent hall, along with his loud heartbeats.
When Adhrit looked into Anaisha's dark and deep eyes earlier, they were filled with both anger and obsession, and just by looking into those eyes, he understood that she was in a very bad state of mind at this moment, and could do anything in her anger.
Whenever he looked into her obsession filled eyes, a wave of fear would always run through him, and that's what happened today — the mere sight of her obsession filled eyes sent a shiver through his entire body, which forced him to avert his gaze away from her.
After moving away from that girl, he once again looked at Anaisha's face for a moment, and then again looked away, trying to calm his increased heartbeat.
That girl looked at Adhrit, and flashed him a grateful, gentle, sincere smile, but that simple, yet sweet gesture did not sit well with Anaisha — her jaw tightened, and both her palms clenched into tight fists.
Her eyes darkened more, and she began taking predatory steps toward them.
Adhrit was still watching her from the corner of his eye. The moment he saw her coming towards him, his breathing became labored, and his heartbeat went abnormal, picking up the pace.
He gulped again to wet his dry throat, which had become totally dry, as the thought of what was going to happen next took over his mind. Looking at Anaisha’s extreme dark aura, all he could feel was negativity and fear.
"So, this is what my husband does in the morning?" Anaisha finally broke the deadly silence spread there, as she came near Adhrit — her intense gaze fixed on him.
Her tone was outwardly calm, but held deep dominance and possession, as she stressed the word ‘husband’ in a way, that was enough for Adhrit to register the level of anger, she was trying to keep in control right now.
Adhrit stammered slightly, as he explained, "I—I was just going downstairs, but wasn't looking up properly, that's why I bumped into her... She tripped because of it, so I just held her to make sure, she wouldn't fall because of me..."
Anaisha was about to respond, but before she could speak further, the girl also chimed in, agreeing with what Adhrit had said just a moment ago, "Yes..! Whatever he is saying is absolutely correct, but there is a slight correction in it... Actually, I was also busy looking around, and wasn't focusing properly, so basically it's not totally his fault... I was equally responsible!"
She shifted her focus back to Adhrit and, passing him a bright smile, added, "Thank you so much for holding me — otherwise I might have gotten hurt..."
