This day was the funeral of Heka’s parents. Ansel attended. He came alone. He wore a black shirt and his eyes were covered with black glasses.
For him, this was not just attending the last blessing. There was something else that he had to do with himself.
During the funeral, he chose to hide in the back row. It was better, because he could keep an eye on that last blessing event. It was to stalk someone. He also hoped that Heka would not see him.
In the back row, he can easily avoid conversation with others. He tried hard not to talk with anyone.
Even so, he could hear all the conversations in the final blessing ceremony. His sense of hearing was getting sharper day by day. He could know if someone had a grudge against Heka. It was pitiful for him to lose everything.
There was another intention. He might meet someone. He felt the mysterious woman who he saw yesterday at the wedding would come. Because he ensured that she was a scourge.
The woman’s phone number that he got from Andrew was completely useless. It was no longer active. So he hoped, this time, he could meet her.
During the last blessing ceremony, he did not hear any suspicion at all. Everyone obviously had no bad intentions towards Heka and his family.
“Does this mean that they are completely clean without any grudges? Then, why did all that happen to Heka?”
Nothing else crossed his mind. Probably, he should stop thinking and waiting for the right time to act.
The final blessing event has been completed. Everyone, one by one, left the cemetery. It made the direction of his gaze clearer. He could see Heka who was standing in front of the gravestone. Heka was not alone, there was someone who accompanied him. She tried to make Heka calm.
There was one thing that made Ansel suspect something bad happened to Heka. He wore winter clothes. It was not winter.
Finally, Heka looked back. He noticed his presence. He told his friend to leave. At that moment, Ansel approached him.
Everyone had left, only both of them who hadn’t left yet. However, someone who Ansel had been waiting for had not appeared at all. He didn’t feel her presence either.
“Where is she? Why doesn’t she show up too? Did I miss her? No, she hasn’t come yet? Will she come today? Or maybe she will come tomorrow or the day after?”
Heka didn’t wear sunglasses, so his swollen eyes full of tears seemed so clear. No matter how strong the mentality, if someone lost something important in his life, he would definitely not be able to hold back tears.
“I think you don’t come,” Heka said.
“How can I not come? I’m in the back row. You just don’t see me.” Ansel knew that Heka looked forward to him. Although his presence at the funeral was not for Heka.
Because it was better that he did not need to talk too much. He immediately asked why his clothes were thick enough. “If you don’t feel well, it’s better to go home. Don’t procrastinate yourself.”
“I’m fine. It’s just that today is so cold?” Heka replied.
“It’s not winter.”
“Somehow, my body is frozen.” Heka smiled a little. He realized the irony of himself.
It meant something happened to Heka. He did not tell Ansel yet. It was not in Ansel’s vision. So, he couldn’t guess at all. But one thing was sure, it might be worse.
Ansel told him to go home first. It was better to avoid something more horrible. “It is better to go home. After all, you must take care of your health.”
Meanwhile, Ansel decided to stay in the cemetery and waited for her.
“Okay, I’ll go home. How about you? Do you not leave?” Heka asked.
“No, I’m waiting for someone. You just go first.” Ansel felt that she would appear when everyone had left.
Heka said, “Okay, I’ll go first.” Heka left him alone.
The moment became quiet. The sound of the wind made him more silent. Heka’s footsteps were heard so clearly.
For a few moments, the sound of Heka’s footsteps stopped. Ansel looked back. “Heka, what’s wrong?”
“It’s okay. My legs feel so heavy. My bones seem frozen.”
Ansel approached him. While Heka was standing in place and not moving at all. He touched Heka’s hand. It was so cold. “Why his body become like ice?”
Heka shook Ansel’s hand which was touching him. “My body is completely frozen.”
“Okay, I’ll take you home.” Maybe this time he missed another chance to meet her. Because Heka was more important.
When they walked away, Ansel realized something. The trees didn’t move at all. Even so, the sound of the wind sounded very loud. However, the gust of wind was felt on his skin.
“What happened? Does the time stop?” He looked around and ensured what he saw at that time was real.
Ansel saw someone walking towards him. She was whom he waited for. When they passed each other, it seemed as if time had stopped. He couldn’t move at all.
He realized Heka didn’t move, either. He looked at his eyeballs. There was no movement whatsoever. His eyes didn’t blink at all.
“My body can’t move at all. At least I can move my eyes. What exactly does she do?”
A few moments later, she walked past toward him again. He wanted to stop her. But he couldn’t move at all and said a single word. His mouth couldn’t be opened.
He could only watch her walk away from them. She seemed to be carrying something. It looked like a lantern.
After she disappeared from his sight, his body could be moved again. He wouldn’t miss the opportunity and chased after her. “Heka, wait in here for a while.”
Ansel ran as fast as he could. He chased after her. "Where was she going?" Unfortunately, he could not find her. Hence, he returned to Heka.
"Ansel, what's wrong? Why do you suddenly run?” Heka asked.
"I'm just chasing the person who just walked past us.”
“Who is he? There is no one in here, except us. I didn’t see anyone or anything walking either.” Heka looked around.
Ansel missed something. “The time suddenly stopped just now. How can Heka see it? I’m the only one who saw it. And I’m the only one who realizes the time stops for a while.”
“Forget it. Nothing happened.” Ansel said to Heka. What just happened can’t be explained at all. Even though he said it, he was sure that Heka would never understand.
This time he missed the chance to meet her. He found it very hard to just confront her and stared into her eyes. However, he ensured one day they would meet.
