Ansel woke up. There was a roof above. He looked around. Ansel gasped when he found himself lying on the bed.

“Where is it?”

Ansel remembered, last time he was trapped in an illusion and couldn’t find the way out of the forest. Suddenly, he fell sleepy.

That was what he remembered.

He got up from the bed, then walked towards the door and opened it. “Did anyone save me? But who?”

The house looked empty. Ansel looked for someone to help him. He checked all the existing rooms.

“Empty. Maybe the owner is going to somewhere.”

He went outside the house. His gaze fell on the tree that he had carved. He headed towards the tree. Then, he sat leaning under it.

His head was down. “What is exactly this place? What kind of illusion is trapped me?”

From below, he saw the leg was approaching him. He looked up. “Hansel?”. Ansel couldn’t believe what he saw. He was so shocked that his body felt stiff.

Hansel crouched in front of Ansel. He held Ansel’s head and smiled broadly. “Let’s go home, then we eat. I has got a rabbit for dinner.” Hansel stood up. He walked away from Ansel.

Ansel just saw Hansel from behind. His body was stuck into what he saw. He realized that he was trapped in the illusion. Meanwhile, he considered the illusion as a reality.

His tears fell down.

Hansel looked back. “Ansel, are you okay? Why are you crying?”

Ansel ran towards Hansel. He hugged him very tightly. “Hansel, don’t go again! Don’t leave me!”

Hansel hugged him, “What are you talking about? You must be exhausted.” He embraced Ansel. They walk together.

“Come in first, I will roast this.”

“I want to help you, I will prepare the barbecue.”

“Okay, I’ll clean this first.”

Ansel took firewood. He cut the wood into small pieces. Then put it in the grill. He ignited a fire and burned it.

His brother came and put the rabbit meat on the grill. “Just sit down, let me roast this.”

“Hmmm…” Ansel sat down. He noticed Hansel who was busy preparing food.

“Ansel, get the wine inside. Are you okay if we drink wine?”

“Okay, I will take it.” Ansel entered the house. He opened the cupboard and took a bottle of wine and two glasses.

He came out and poured the wine into the glass.

Hansel cut the rabbit and put it on Ansel’s plate, “Here you are, let’s  eat.”

Ansel ate very voraciously. “Hansel, this is very delicious.”

Hansel just smiled. He rubbed Ansel’s head. “Eat a lot, you’re too thin.”

For now Ansel just wanted to enjoy that moment, with Hansel. He refused to think about anything else. “Hansel, I want a moment like this forever.”

“Okay, I’ll grant it.” Hansel drank wine. He also asked Ansel to drink it. “This wine is very good, drink it!”

Ansel followed him. It was indeed very good. “Did you make it?”

“Why?”

“This is the best wine that I ever drink.”

Hansel poured another wine into Ansel’s glass.

Ansel immediately drank it. He felt like he had heard something. Someone called his name.

 “Ansel… where are you… Ansel…”

the voice made his head hurt. His head felt dizzy.

“Ansel why? Are you okay?”

He squeezed his head. It was too painful for him. “My head just hurt a lot. I hear someone calling me. I don’t know who she is. The voice is strange.”

Hansel stood beside Ansel, “You better take rest.” He stroked Ansel’s head.

“Thank you. I’m fine.”

“But, your body feels very cold. You better take rest.” Hansel helped Ansel up and led him into the room.

“Lit down.” Hansel covered Ansel’s body.

Ansel stood up. He held Hansel’s hand, “Hansel, don’t go.”

Hansel held his hand, “I will always be by your side. I’m outside. If you need something, just call me .” Hansel left Ansel behind.

Ansel just looked up at the ceiling. He was still thinking about the buzzing voice in his head. “Who is she?”

Then the voice was heard again, “Ansel help me, Ansel… Ansel…”

Ansel tried to think. He tried to remember something. The more, he remembered it, the pain got worse. He felt that he had to go back to the tree.

He tried to stand up and out of the room. He headed towards the kitchen and took the knife.

“Ansel, where are you going?”

Hansel called him, but he ignored him. He kept walking towards the tree. He touched the sculpture he had made. “There’s a barrier.” He hit the tree with a knife. The knife was broken. He stared at the tree. “What happened? What is this place?”

Hansel touched his shoulder, “Ansel, what’s wrong? What are you doing?”

he cried, “Hansel, I want to be here, with you. But I must to get out of this place. I just don’t know how.”

“Then stay here.”

The voice appeared again. “Ansel…” Ansel’s head hurt. “Sorry, but I must to get out of here.” Ansel turned and walked away.

Hansel stopped him. “Don’t go!!!”

Ansel looked back. Hansel was very sad about his decision. But his decision was unanimous. He let go of Hansel’s hand and walked away.

He took the knife and returned to the tree. But Hansel stopped him.

“Hansel, I’m sorry. but I really have to go.”

“If you want to leave, you have to kill me first.”

That was unfair. He would never hurt his own brother. “Hansel, please let me get out of here. There’s something I must to do.” He begged by prostrating.

Hansel took the broken knife. The blade was back as before. “I won’t let you go.” He stabbed Ansel’s leg with the knife.

“Hansel… you’re not Hansel.”

Hansel pulled the knife. He pointed the knife at Ansel’s chest. But Ansel held it.

Hansel was stronger than Ansel. He couldn’t hold Hansel’s hand. Finally, the knife was stabbed in his chest.

Hansel took the ax and he stood up. Then walked away from Ansel.

Ansel pulled out the knife, then he quickly ran towards Hansel and stabbed him in the back.

Hansel turned around and hit Ansel so hard. his body was thrown towards the tree. The blow was very strong, but he didn’t feel any pain.

Ansel stood up and fought Hansel. He aimed the punch. But Hansel quickly dodged him.

Ansel stopped, because he realized that he was no match for Hansel. However, he didn’t just give up. Either way, he had to be able to defeat Hansel so he could get out of that place.

“Ansel, look up yourself. you can’t beat me. You should just follow me, stay here with me. Here is the safest place. No one will hurt you.” Hansel left Ansel.

Ansel felt that he was completely useless. He was too weak and cowardly. His presence always endangered the people around him.
