Chapter 64

Y/n's POV

The meeting continued on with Souei talking about the ecologi... thing that papa sent him on when looking at where papa was going to build the roads. "I sent out Body Doubles all over the great forest of Jura to investigate and saw no causes for concern. " Souei explained.

"Sweet." Papa said. 

"There was one thing. A sword grizzly started causing havoc in the north-west region of the forest. So I eliminated it." Souei continued.

"I see, so that's good news at least." Papa said.

"Notice: A Sword Grizzly is on the same level as a Knight Spider. The lowest recommended rank by the adventurer's guild is A-." Rapheal stated.

"That's a rank most ordinary adventurers wouldn't be able to do anything against." Papa said.

"Indeed." Souei agreed.

"Should we avoid sending the new recruits to Gobta's forces that direction, then?" I asked. 

"I agree with Lady Y/n. There's no way the new recruits could take something like that on." Gobta added.

"It's not a problem. Perhaps you're going too easy on them during training." Souei said.

"Regardless of the training. That's a monster we can't let our guard down around." Gobta complained.

"Why not? Maybe all you need to do is push them a bit harder." Souei suggested.

"I agree with Souei. Lady Y/n, I understand your cause for concern, but we need to push our guards around town harder so they can defeat any monster they come across in the Great Forest." Hakurou suggested.

"You're right. Sorry for interrupting." I said.

"Lady Y/n... You three are monsters." Gobta complained. 

"Well, we are Oni, after all." Hakurou said, mentioning the other Onis in the meeting room. 

"They have a point. Bulking up Gobta and his crew would definitely help. But these monsters showing up is a real problem. We have to ensure the safety of our visitors, so we have to come up with a way to handle them." Papa said.

"In that case, this could be a good chance for us to test out our new Anti-Magic Barrier." Vesta suggested.

"Anti-Magic Barrier?" Papa asked. 

"We just finished the prototype. It took a bit to get it working, but we made a fully automatic magic generator." Kaijin said.

"Woah! That's so cool!" I almost shouted. Mama just looked at me before shaking her head. She leaned over close to me to whisper something to me. "Sweetie, it's not appropriate to make such an outburst during meetings like this." Mama said, scolding me. I nodded and turned back to the conversation as Vesta and Kaijin talked about what they made. Other people also mentioned that other people were also help make the prototype. Mama even helped with making the prototype. After that, we headed outside the Capitol building, heading towards the edge of Tempest. As we got to the edge of Tempest, we stopped in front of a section of the road that was pulled out and a disk with what looked like a magi-crystal in the center. Vesta and Kaijin started explaining how the generator worked. It was pulling magicules from the air around Tempest since we had a lot of them due to the fact that we were a city of monster who had a constant release of magicules. There were a few flaws the generator had, but they were being solved with the Rune magic that papa introduced to Tempest. Vesta went into further detail about the magic graving on the bottom of it and how it could make a variety of spells that we could use through the magic engraving. Vesta explained how we could use the magic generators on the roads. They had already completed the setup of everything with the generators, and most everyone was working on getting it ready to be placed in the road. Geld offered his and his men's help in installing the disks in the road. 

Uncle Veldora came over and asked if he could release his aura once we installed the disks. Papa scolded him for thinking that and how if he did release his aura, he'd killed pretty much the whole country. Diablo explained the papa about how uncle Veldora's aura was hard to control before saying that Benimaru and some others were letting out some of their aura as well. As we were heading back to the capitol building, Kumara grabbed my hand before pulling me to the side of the road. "Big sis.... Can we go play now? This meeting is too long and boring." Kumara complained. I sighed before looking at mama who stopped once Kumara pulled me off to the side. Mama smiled and nodded before waving at us. "Alright, let's go play." I said, smiling at Kumara. Kumara cheered before the two of us headed out into the forest, looking for something fun to do while we were out there. Kumara and I started a round of tag only for us to get interrupted by a few monsters, which we easily took care of before heading back home to get some food and to rest a little. After eating some food, Kumara ended up laying her head on my lap and falling asleep. I couldn't bring myself to move any since Kumara was peacefully sleeping on my lap, so I started reading some manga that Rapheal made for Kumara and I could read. Once night came, I carried Kumara to bed, keeping her from waking up before heading to bed myself. The next day I went to the capitol building to see what I missed from the rest of the meeting before heading into papa's office. "Hey sweetie, how's it going?" Papa asked.

"Good, Kumara's adjusting to Tempest fast and she's always wanting to try something new with me." I explained. As I was about to ask about what I missed, I felt Diablo's presence appear before turning around to see him. "Lord Rimuru, Lady Y/n, I have a report." Diablo said.

"Not you too... Something tells me it's bad. Is everything okay?" Papa complained. I looked at papa confused since he didn't mention anything when I walked into his office. "It's Rayhiem, he's dead sir." Diablo said.

"Dead? I'm guessing it wasn't from natural causes." Papa said.

"Yes, though it's unclear how. I suspect he was killed by the Holy Church and after you predicted, they would silence him. I can only beg for your forgiveness." Diablo said.

"Don't blame yourself. I was just spit balling some ideas. I never thought it'd actually happen." Papa said.

"I received information from the nations around Falmuth. They're simultaneously spreading rumors that the archbishop was murdered as part of a demon's conspiracy. And in reponse to that, the nation's knights have mobilized. They're headed to Falmuth and will likely ally with King Edward in a few days." Diablo said.

"What's going on? Why's this all happening right now?" Papa asked.
