Y/n's POV
The next day everyone who was important to what happened yesterday gathered in the metting room where we handle most of the business when it comes to what happens in Tempest. Papa and I were sitting at the head of the table with Shion standing behind us while Luminous and her followers sat on the right side of the table while Uncle Benimaru, Souei, Rigurd and uncle Veldora sat on the left. Uncle Veldora wasn't paying much attention since he had a manga in his hands. The knights that followed Hinata still remained with her even after discovering that Luminous was a demon lord and not a god. We also ended up meeting Louis Valentin, who was the Emperor of the Holy Empire of Lubelius, after finding out that the person who stood in for Luminous at Walpurgis was his younger twin brother, Roy Valentin. Roy was killed by Laplace after he left Walpurgis. "According to our doctrine, our church can not recognize a nation of monsters. Archbishop Rayhiem came forward with a proposal to deal with Tempest, which is why the temple knights were mobilized. I couldn't acknowledge you either, though my reasoning was personal." Hinata explained.
"You mean because of mama Shizu, right?" I asked.
"Yes, looking back on it all now, it would seem I was being used." Hinata acknowledged.
"Some was using you? Any idea who?" Papa asked.
"I suspect it was the eastern merchants." Hinata said, tucking some of her hair behind her ear.
"We discovered that demon lord Clayman was often visited by merchant. I wonder if they were from the eastern empire, too?" Papa said.
"Well, regardless, they were the people who told me you were responsible for killing Shizu and you just so happened to be staying in the kingdom of Englassia at the time. I did hear that you had a young girl accompanying you while you were staying in Englassia. Am I correct in assuming that was you, lady Y/n?" Hinata asked. I nodded. "That explains it, and the timing couldn't have possibly been worse. Just thinking about it pisses me off." Papa said. As he finished his sentence, his demon lord aura started pouring off of him while all but one knight stayed somewhat calm. ""It'll take much more than that to intimidate us, lord Rimuru." Luminous said. I nudged papa's side, hoping he'd stop releasing his aura. "Oh! Sorry about that!" Papa apologized. The knights let out a sigh of relief as papa regained his composure. "Anyway, I think it's safe to say these eastern merchants are behind all of this. They're probably also the ones who egged Edmaris on too." Papa added.
"It makes the most sense." I agreed.
"There's no doubt about it. After interrogating Rayhiem, he clarified that was the case." Hinata said.
"And on top of that, Clayman was also manipulating Falmuth," Papa added.
"And these merchants from the Eastern Empire helped him do that?" Uncle Benimaru asked.
"Yeah, Clayman's aim was to awaken himself as a true demon lord. The kingdom of Falmuth wanted to eliminate its competition, and the merchants were the glue that held them together." Papa started.
"There's someone missing from that list." I finished.
"Y/n's right, the mastermind pulling the strings from behind the scenes." Papa added.
"I nearly forgot, you're referring to the one that was helping Clayman. To think he stayed quiet to the very end. To be honest, I didn't expect that weakling to hold out." Luminous added.
"Could he have been talking about the Seven Days?" I asked.
"You're joking, right? You can't seriously be suggesting that the Seven Days Clergy were acting behind my back." Luminous stated. Luminous was a little upset that we were curious if they had anything to do with it. "We can't deny the possibility, my lady." Louis said. Luminous turned and looked at him, a little stunned. "Louis, you're spouting this nonsense as well?" Luminous asked.
