On Dathomir

Malidictus was observing some of the younglings and acolytes train with the Templar Warriors when Maul appeared at his side. "Come to see the future generation train?" Malidictus asked. Maul huffed, "Hardly. It appears we have been contacted. By the Republic," Maul scoffed and Malidictus simply raised an eyebrow, "We are not Republic lapdogs, what do they want with us?" He pondered with his hands behind his back. Maul pulled out his communicator and showed it to his master. To the Grand Emperor's surprise, it was the Jedi known as Anakin. "Chancellor Palpatine, are you there?" he said. "He tapped into one of our communication devices whilst trying to contact the Chancellor with a rudimentary form of contact," Maul explained. "I don't know what's more amusing, the fact he tried to contact the chancellor and somehow got word to us instead, or the fact that he doesn't know," Malidictus smirked as Anakin continued, "The Senate building is under attack and has been sealed in," he continued.

"Hilarious. Now then, I see an opportunity for us," Malidictus continued. "Master?" Maul questioned. "You see my apprentice, if we assist the senate in the defending against the attack, that gains favour with the Republic, which means good news for us because they assume we're on their side in this, when in reality, we're just buttering them up so when they turn their back, we make our moves," The Grand Emperor grinned. Maul nodded, "Should I assemble a team?" he asked. "No. Me and you can deal with this petty skirmish. Besides, you need to improve your stealth, and this presents a unique opportunity for us to do so," he said, "Come Maul, let us show the Republic how to deal with a few low-down criminals," Malidictus grinned as Maul nodded and followed his master.

The flight hadn't been long at all, and it had been surprisingly easy to get into Coruscant airspace, "pitiful", Maul had said as they landed in a rather hidden area and easily made their way to the senate building, which was close by. "Here we are my apprentice. First, we must get inside the building, before promptly locating the attackers. Funny how small this is and yet the Republic can't handle it," he said. "I shall go in through the window master. How will you gain entrance?" Maul asked. "A different window," Malidictus laughed as both master and apprentice force jumped up to two different windows, that had somehow been left open, and went in.

The senate hallways were cleaner than what Malidictus had thought, smaller too. Yet the colour scheme was disgusting to say the least. "At lest the empire's colour scheme doesn't look like regurgitated Rancor flesh,"  Malidictus commented, disgusted. Sneaking through the empty hallways, he soon reached a wide room where a bunch of senators, and bounty hunters, including Cad Bane, were gathered, the bounty hunters having surrounded and captured the senators, including Skywalker. "Well done Jedi, and I thought your kind could not get any less intelligent," Malidictus scoffed before contacting Maul on his gauntlet, being able to since their network was on a different frequency compared to the one that had been shut down.

"Maul, they are in the east wing. I have a plan, but I need you to cause a distraction, lure away and incapacitate a few of them," Malidictus ordered. "Yes my master," Maul responded before the transmission ended. "Young Skywalker," Bane began, "Not so impressive without your lightsabre, are you, Jedi?" he mocked to the unconscious Anakin. Standing up, he looked to two other bounty hunters, "Toss him in with the others," he ordered as they did just that and dragged him to the group, dumping him in front of them as two Senators came to look  him over, a female senator, and a male senator.

"3D, are we on schedule?" Bane said in his communicator. Just then, the door behind them opened to reveal a figure dressed in a black cloak, who glared at the bounty hunters. Bane whipped around and shot a blast off, but the figure, Maul, simply stepped out of the way. "You ready to die today?" Bane growled. Maul simply stared him down from beneath his hood, hiding his face and force pushed Bane away with a powerful force push before simply walking away. "You two stay here, we'll get him," Bane snarled as he and a female bounty hunter sprinted after Maul. Once they were gone, the small bounty hunter, and the one with a metal arm turned to the group. "You do nothing. You'll soon have more friends," the one with a metal arm cackled. Unknown to either of them, Malidictus had silently dropped down, his hood up, behind them and funnelled force lightning to his hand, grabbing the small fish being's head and electrocuting him unconscious. "What the-?!!" the other one shouted as he whirled around, only to be met by a back hand which made his head snap to the said, knocking him unconscious as well. "I expected better from such, efficient, beings," Malidictus scoffed.

Turning to face the shocked and fearful senators, and Jedi, Malidictus removed his hood. "Ah, senators of the Republic, an honour," he smiled as he bowed his head respectfully. "Who are you?" demanded the female senator who was tending to Anakin. "If you must know, I am Grand Emperor Malidictus of the Sith empire. We received your...distress signal, when Anakin here made a rudimentary form of communication between him and the chancellor. Seems he increased the distance a bit too much for my communicators to pick it up," he grinned, "And who might you be?" The woman looked at him officially, "Padme Amidala, senator of Naboo," she responded. "Ah, the former Queen of Naboo. You know, I respect you senator, you want the betterment for your people, as do I. We share common goals," he responded. "Why did you come here? Surely the Sith empire could have sat this one out," the male said. "That's true, we could have. But, I simply am showing that despite our....less than favourable reputation, we still stay true to our morals, and allowing the senseless murder of the innocent we cannot stand by and watch," he said. True, he was spouting utter nonsense, but there was also some truth to his words.

Just then, Maul made his appearance, hood up and dragging an unconscious Bane and female bounty hunter by their legs. "Very good my apprentice. Leave them here to be found," he ordered as Maul nodded and dumped them. Malidictus then looked at Bane's unconscious face, "Working for me one moment and then being enemies the next, life of a bounty hunter eh Bane?" He grinned, whispering so no one noticed what he said. Just then, Anakin woke up, "What are you looking so sad about?" he flirted to Padme, who gave him a subtle look, one that didn't go unnoticed by Malidictus. Looking around, his eyes soon fell on Malidictus and Maul, who was still disguised, and narrowed his eyes. "You. What are you doing here?!" he demanded. "By the looks of it Jedi, saving your lives," he said, gesturing to the bounty hunters. "Are they dead?" he scowled, remembering the whole reason he had duelled Windu in the first place. "No. They committed a crime against the republic, not the empire, thus I have no say in their fates. But, your welcome by the way," he said as Anakin scowled some more.

"For what? You duelled Master Windu, and your little apprentice here nearly killed me!" he protested. "One, the Jedi attacked me first, and two, you tried to attack me, so my apprentice stepped in. We didn't attempt to kill you, simply show you up, you'd know if we tried to kill you," he glared at Anakin. Just then, a beeping sound erupted from behind them, "Oh, Bane. Of course you had a kriffing back-up," Malidictus snarled as the explosion went off. Anakin shielded Padme and expected to feel the burn, but yet, he didn't. He felt nothing. Looking up, all the senators were amazed to see Malidictus holding up one hand, and the flame moved around him and the senators, creating an invisible bubble of sorts whilst the rest of the room was engulfed in the explosion. "Here is your lightsabre, master Jedi," Padme said as she gave Anakin his lightsabre back.

Once the explosion had quelled, Maul took his place at Malidictus' side, and the Grand Emperor turned to face the group. "Why did you save us? You could have easily let us die," Anakin asked, curious but cautious. "As I said to Padme, I won't tolerate innocent lives being lost, and even though we are different, a life is still a life," he said emotionless. "Thank you, Emperor Malidictus," Padme  said in an official way with a nod and a small smile. Malidictus nodded back, even nodding at Anakin before he and Maul force jumped onto the ledge and walked away. "Is he really an emperor?" Padme asked. "Indeed he is. I must inform the council of this," Anakin said as he got himself loose from his cuffs.

On the ship back to Dathomir, Maul turned to his master, "Master, must we pander these Republic and Jedi dogs for any longer?" he asked. "Patience my apprentice. The Republic is failing, so we must be careful and protect our interests. Besides, when we were in the senate, I felt a dark presence, another Sith. A false Sith," he said as resentment began to fester a the thought. "Sidious," Maul growled as they went into Hyperspace, heading back home to Dathomir to plan for the future.

Okayyyyy, as much as I enjoyed writing this chapter, it was more of a filler chapter, but, I have my reasons for making Malidictus help out the Republic like this, as well as slowly gaining favour with the Jedi :)

Hope you enjoyed this mini, filler chapter, and look out for the next one :)

Next chapter is where things start to get REALLY interesting :)
