On Dathomir:

After the whole ordeal with Geonosis, sometime had passed and Malidictus was in his dark council room with Darth Bane by his side. "So you let the Jedi go?" he asked. Malidictus nodded, "Indeed Bane. They saved Dren's life when we fought and killed the queen. I owed them that much, but I gave them a warning as well. In return for not declaring war, they would not step foot in my empire ever again," he said as he continued signing paperwork and overlooking different documents related to the empire. "And what about the Venators the fleet destroyed?" Bane asked. Malidictus smirked, "In the warning, I told them to say it was Geonosians and Separatist frigates that destroyed them, as well as the clones that were killed. They didn't want to risk the fragile agreement we had made, so they obliged and left," The Grand Emperor grinned. It seemed that any time the two governments met, the prospect of war seemed ever closer between the pair.

Just then, Malidictus' comm went off, and when he answered it, he was met by the familiar face of Padme Amidala. "Senator Amidala, to what do I owe this pleasure?" he asked in a smooth voice. The senator looked worried, "Grand Emperor, there has been....an assassination. My uncle was killed," she said solemnly. Malidictus sighed, "I am sorry to hear that my dear. What was your uncle's name by the way?" he asked. "Ono Farr, why?" she asked, curious. Malidictus nodded, but his expression remained solemn, "I have heard from my people that he was a troubled man who made mistakes. Yet I know that he changed and regretted what he did. He seemed like a good man in the end," he said, surprising the senator. "How do you know this?" she asked, more curious than aggressive. "I have people inside the Republic as well as the Separatists. But do not fear, they are there to simply keep an eye on affairs so I am up to date with current events, you may call them spies, but they do nothing more than relay events that the people of the Republic and the Separatists know. I do not commit espionage unless I am in a war with said factions. From what they told me, Ono Farr was indeed a man with a troubled past, but tried to fix his mistakes and atone for what he did, for that, he has my eternal respect, even in death," Malidictus said as Padme nodded, seemingly comforted by his words.

"Now, what is it you wish to discuss my dear?" he asked kindly. "The inspector they put in charge of the investigation is arrogant, and a group of us believe he is incapable of finding out what happened to my uncle. So, I politely ask as a favour to me and Naboo, that you help us in uncovering the truth," she said in a calm tone. Malidictus sat back in his chair, he had a lot to deal with inside the empire, yet he was not a man to deny a request like this from one of his friends. "You need not call it a favour Senator Amidala. I am a man of honour, and if a friend asks for my assistance, I shall be glad to give it," he said, surprising Padme. "We're...friends?" she asked. "Indeed. Our trade agreement constitutes as friendship to me. As far as I am concerned, your planet is a friend to my empire, and you are a friend to me. Is that a problem?" he asked. "No, no, no. It just surprised me to hear that you would be willing to be friends with a senator who is in the republic, considering your...opposition towards the Republic," she answered honestly. Malidictus smiled a little, "My dear Padme, I do not have issues with all those who are involved with the Republic. Just because I am distasteful of the Republic, does not mean I have a hatred towards all those who live in it. Think of it this way, just because I hate a certain subject taught to me, I must hate the person who teaches it to you, or vice versa," he responded.

Padme smiled a little, "We cannot leave Coruscant, that is the only issue here," she said. "No matter my dear, I will come to Coruscant, and I will bring my apprentice, as he could help in these matters as well," he answered. "But how will you get here? The Republic will surely be on guard if they see you here at, in the senate of all places!" she exclaimed. Malidictus just laughed a little, "My dear Padme, you forget who my master was. Darth Vitiate," he had to refrain from throwing up at the mere mention of his master's full title out of pure disgust, "was known for his mental manipulation tricks. Something that he taught me. And one thing he taught me, was the ability to alter people's perceptions, so it would be easy to alter someone's perception of me and my apprentice as we stroll through the senate. For example, we could walk through the senate in our regular attire, whilst making it seem to others, that we are simple senators making our way to a meeting," he said. Padme sighed, "If you're sure," she said as the Grand Emperor nodded, "Then we shall meet soon," she said before disconnecting.
