Chapter 36: To Catch a Jedi and Sith

Council room:

Malidictus stood with the Jedi council as well as the rest of the Templar Warriors and Korriban Elite as they discussed what to do about Ahsoka and Dren. "After further investigation, there can be little doubt that the clone officers murdered in the escape were killed by none other than Ahsoka Tano and Darth Dren. He used Sith mind tricks before she struck them down. They are working together I believe," Tarkin said.

"I do not believe that Ahsoka could have fallen so far," Plo Koon stated. "Nor do I think Dren would have done this. He is young, incapable of mind tricks as advanced as these, and nevertheless, he has been taught otherwise," Malidictus stated. "Pardon, but Sith turn on each other all the time," Tarkin spoke up. "When I want your opinion, I shall ask for it. He is a part of my empire, and shall be treated as such. Be thankful I haven't already used less than civil methods already, Tarkin," he said. "Admiral actually," the snobbish prick said. "Admirals have decorum, respect, class, and good hair styles. You my friend, have none of those things. Now go away," Malidictus said, waving his hand as Tarkin had no choice but to disconnect the call with a  huff.

"Skywalker, was there no way to stop your Padawan before she and the Sith Lord escaped?" Mundi asked. "No master Mundi," Anakin said. "The council believes that Ahsoka may be guilty of the crime, still believe they are wrong, do you, hmm?" Yoda asked. "I believe neither of them are responsible for what they are accused of," Anakin said firmly. "Now she's in the lower depths with the Sith. With both their skills, they will be hard to find," Windu stated.

"Two teams we shall send. Master Skywalker, Master Plo Koon, with clones you will go," Yoda ordered. "I shall deal with Dren. He is part of my empire, and a vital member of it. Do not worry, I will have him back here with me soon enough," Malidictus said as Yoda nodded.

"I think it would be best if Skywalker stayed here," Windu said. "Having you involved may actually make things worse," he said. "Master Windu, with all due respect, she is my, Padawan," Anakin growled. "The reason for you not to go," the bald Jedi stated. "I think we're being foolish if we take Anakin off this mission. After all, he knows her best," Obi-Wan stated. "He's emotionally tied to her. Probably too emotional to do what needs to be done," Windu added. "I'd rather capture Ahsoka and find out the truth than let her run because of a lie," Anakin stubbornly responded. "You must prove to us, that you will stay focused," Yoda said. "Can you?" He asked. As Anakin and the council went back and forth Malidictus subtly leaned over to Darth Jonus. "We need to find Dren. I will be representing him for extradition in the hearing should he be caught. But for now, we need to help them indirectly," he said. "What do we do? It's not like we have anyone inside the Republic who isn't a spy, or aren't in this room," Jonus said. Malidictus then grinned, "Actually, we do," he grinned. "Who?" Jonus asked. Malidictus smirked, he might just have a way to assist the pair of runaways after all. Because he knew for a fact they were both innocent.

Down in the sub-levels, Ahsoka and Dren were sneaking around, with Dren's cloak hood up, and sharing his cloak's width to keep Ahsoka warm. Avoiding local authority, they made their way down an alley, and saw a homeless being. "I have an idea," Ahsoka said. "I'm all ears," Dren said.

Walking up and kneeling next to the being, she looked at him. "Hey buddy, are you hungry?" She asked. "Yeah," the guy said. "How about we do a trade?" She asked as she handed over some food. "What do you want in return?" The being asked. "Your cloak," she said.

After putting on the cloak, the pair of rouges made their way to the underground train. "Keep close," Dren said as Ahsoka held his hand. Boarding, they got a little way before they saw local officers checking for passes. "Kriff," Dren hissed as they turned to the doors. However, just as they thought they were free, more guards showed up in front of them. "It's them!" They shouted as they gave chase. "So much for that!" Dren shouted as they jumped, dodged, and expertly dodged the officers with their force abilities. One guy attempted to grab Ahsoka, but was knocked out cold by a right hook from Dren, safe to say, he was incredibly protective.
