As I entered the throne room, everyone's eyes landed on me, staring silently as I walked over to my seat. My eyes, however, were on someone else, on her, on Paedyn. She was next to my brother, her betrothed. Our eyes locked together, only for a second, but that was enough to see the storm of emotions which were torturing her. She was scared... and so was I, but I couldn't let my mask fall for her sake.

I made my way to my chair, which was opposite that of Paedyn's chair. It took all my willpower not to look at her and drown in those pretty ocean blue eyes. She really is the definition of a deity. Her ocean blue eyes look tired, she looks less fatigued compared to when I found her in Dor though. Her hair is the same beautiful silver hue as it had been when I last saw her, and it matched the beautiful dress she wore.

How I wished to tell her all of these things, to hold her, to tell her everything would be all right, but I can't I have to wear my mask, if not for me, then for her.

"Good evening brother, I'm glad you were able to make it for dinner, I was afraid you wouldn't show up at all" Kitt said, his voice sounding strangely eager, although his eyes told a very different and darker story, one I hope hasn't scarred him.

I nod my head in response, with a smile which mirrored that of his own. My mask had been officially slipped on. "Sorry, I had been busy with one of my... missions". The lie came out of my mouth easily, what I'd really been doing waws planning a way to free my pretty Pae, the deity who sat across from me.

My response seemed to satisfy him, and he turned his attention back to Paedyn, whispering something into her ear, making her smile, not a real smile, I can see the cracks in the mask she wears just as she can in the one, I wear. It still makes my blood boil though, Kitt doesn't deserve her smile, even if its fake, he doesn't deserve her attention, he doesn't deserve her. She doesn't even love him, I still don't understand why he wants her, why he made her his bride, he knew that I was in love with her, yet he still did it. What is he scheming?

For the continuation of the dinner, the two of them talked to each other. It feels like torture, knowing she is no longer mine, that she belongs to someone who isn't me, that she is marrying, not me, but my brother, Kitt. But that will never stop me from loving her, even if it's at a distance, that will never stop me from fighting for her, that will never stop me from trying to free her. Why? Because the possibility of her is better than the reality of anyone else.

When dinner finally ended, Kitt dismissed everyone, and ordered one of his guards to escort Paedyn to her room.

That left only the two of us together, alone in the throne room. We hadn't talked since last week, since he took my forever away from me.

I know I shouldn't ask but I have to know, "Kitt, what are you planning on doing with her?"

My brother seems slightly surprised at the question, even angry, but he replies with a calm voice, one that certainly doesn't belong to my brother, "That is none of your concern, enforcer, as King, I will decide what is best to be done... is there anything else?"

The title he used, felt like an arrow to my heart, I'm his brother, but he chooses to see me as nothing more than his enforcer, he no longer sees me as family, I only live to serve him. Well, two can play at that game. "No, your majesty, I've nothing else of importance to ask or mention" I say coldly, as I leave, not looking back at him, the monster that had been created through grief.
