"I..."

I didn't know what to say, I felt so vulnerable, I was at loss for words.

The truth is I'm not sure who to choose. My brother. Kitt. Or my lover. Paedyn.

It really is a question of duty or desire. And even I'm not sure, I can only open my mouth, but no words come out.

I can feel Paedyn staring, waiting for an answer, both of us had always thought about it, but neither of us had ever voiced our concerns about the matter. Not until this damn ordinary, Makoto, decided to.

I didn't dislike him. I despised him, with every inch of my soul. This man was daring and unpredictable. I hated it. I always knew how to unnerve people, but him... he seemed to know I couldn't do anything to him. He seemed to not fear me at all. It was annoyingly peculiar.

Finally, Paedyn shook her head, she didn't seem hurt, not even surprised by my lack of words... she looked like she had been expecting it. She was annoyed, but not surprised...

"Mak, as far as I can see we don't really have a better plan, unless you have some ideas?" she asked, her voice cracking slightly. That was the only indication that I had hurt her, even though she didn't look it, I could tell that she was hurt, and it was all because of me.

I can't even look her in the eye now.

Suddenly, we hear a creaking sound come from the other side of the room, the door was opening. Quickly, I shove Paedyn and Makoto behind a stack of crates to hide them.

Once, the door fully opens, I realize that was my first mistake. The door opens to reveal none other than Mr. Calore and the other guard who had escorted me here.

"Mr. Azer are you alright? We thought we could hear talking in here, and you've been here for an awful long time, we just wanted to make sure that you were alright" the words came from Mr. Calore's mouth.

"Yes, I'm fine, thank you. You may leave now, unless you have any news to give me of course."

"Uh... no news sir, but I have to ask, where are the prisoners?"

Crap. Any minute now and I'd be busted.

"That's none of your concern Mr. Calore, I advise you to leave, now." I emphasize the last word with as much boredom as I can.

"Actually sir, I think that would be Mr. Calore's and my concern, considering that our assignment is to the King, and he requested that we bring the silver savior back, so let me ask again... where are they?" the other guard interrupted. He was becoming an annoyance now; I make a mental note to have him fired as soon as I get to Palace... or rather if I get back.

"I disagr-" before I can finish my sentence Mr. Calore sends a bolt of fire right to my head, I narrowly dodge it. The blazer sends another to my legs, which I once again manage to dodge.

I had to come up with a plan and fast, otherwise no one here would return in one piece back to the Palace.

I search for the powers around the room, Mr. Calore is a blazer and the other guard seem to be a veil. A defensive elite it seems.

Perfect. I could use this to my advantage. I feel once again for his veil ability, and once I feel it tickling my skin, I grab on to it and use it.

I turn invisible, the other veil does the same, not that it'll help him find me, I then go behind the crates to find Pae and Makoto, while Mr. Calore blindly shoots balls of fire all around the room in hope of hitting me.

To my surprise both Paedyn and Makoto are nowhere to be seen... they must've snuck out while the guards were distracted. That was the wisest move they could make, but how did they sneak out? Mr. Calore or the veil would've seen them, there wasn't any place they could go without being seen. I don't get long to ponder on the question before a ball of fire comes my way, only just missing me.

With that I run, and fast, not looking back.
