A/n: Welcome back for part 2 of this Natsu request. I may have only seen one person say anything about part 2, but I enjoyed writing part 1 and felt that this part was a good addition. So without further ado please enjoy and remember to hydrate or diedrate.

Natsu had been trying anything and everything he could think of to jog her memories. Taking her to places they used to hang out, telling her about different jobs and adventures they had been on, but alas none of it worked. Hello he even tried sparing with her, but all that came of that was some broken tables in the guild hall and a black eye on his end. He was desperate to find a solution to say the least.

So when Erza suggested that they invite y/n to join them on a job, Natsu couldn't hold back his excitement. In his mind taking Y/n on a job would be the perfect way to jog her memories of him. With the rest of Team Natsu agreeing to let Y/n join them for a job, Erza brought the offer to Y/n. After much deliberation Y/n agreed to join them, hoping that going on a job would help in clearing the mental fog that blocked her memories of her pink haired friend.

After a few days of looking over different job requests, the group settled on a relatively simple one that would be great to ease Y/n back into the swing of things. It was a request to deal with a horde of monsters a few towns away, so after informing Mirajane that they would be taking the request the group set off for the job.

The journey there was uneventful except for Natsu's motion sickness. They arrived and made contact with the person who submitted the request. After speaking with the client it was revealed that there were two groups of monsters to deal with. Erza suggested that Natsu, Y/n and Lucy deal with one group of monsters while her and Gray dealt with the other. With the group all on the same page, they split up to complete the job.

Natsu led the way to the cluster of monsters the three of them were supposed to deal with. Arriving the wizards were faced with five large beasts. Lucy struck first, summoning Taurus who charged and began fighting one of them. Natsu began fighting two of the remaining beasts leaving two for Y/n handle on her own.

Prior to the injury that cost Y/n her memories, this fight would have been easy. But with this being her first job back in months, she doubted herself. Sure she was cleared and had spent the months following her waking up training, but she couldn't help but worry that she wouldn't be strong enough. While she was caught up in her thoughts and worries, Y/n failed to notice one of her opponents taking a swing at her.

In the middle of fighting, Natsu began to smell the one thing he did not want to ever smell again, the unmistakable scent of Y/n's blood. Quickly taking out the beasts he was fighting, Natsu whipped around to look in Y/n's direction. To his horror, Y/n laid on the ground unconscious as the two beasts she was supposed to be fighting got closer to her. He could clearly see a streak of blood across her face and feared the worst.

"Lucy, I need you to take care of these guys for me. Y/n's hurt." Natsu ordered, surprising the blonde with how serious he sounded. Lucy turned to look at where she had last seen Y/n and gasped before summoning another spirit and catching the attention of the monsters. Taking the opening, Natsu dashed to Y/n's side. "Come on, Y/n you gotta wake up. I can't lose you again." he gently shook her, hoping she would wake up.

After taking out the last of the monsters, Lucy rushed to her friends' sides. "Is she ok?" She asked kneeling to look at the unconscious wizard.

Before Natsu could respond, the girl in his arms groaned. His attention was immediately on his friend waiting for any other sign that she was okay. After a few seconds of waiting, Y/n slowly blinked her eyes. "Natsu?" She asked weakly, looking at the pink haired wizard.

"I'm right here, don't worry we're gonna get you some help. Don't move around too much." He assured her with a forced smile. He was really just trying to hide his anxiety.

Taking a moment to gather her thoughts, Y/n spoke again. "I- I remember you Natsu." She stated as if it wasn't the best new Natsu would receive. He looked at her, unable to hide the look of shock on his face. "I remember everything, I remember when we met and all the jobs we went on, and all of the times I helped you prank Gray." She said, while sitting up slowly. Barely giving her time to breathe, Natsu wrapped his arms tightly around her, barring his face in her neck. Y/n just chuckled as she returned the hug.

Getting lost in the familiar embrace of one of his best friends, Natsu couldn't hold back the wave of tears that rushed forward. "I was beginning to think you would never remember me." He mumbled into the side of her neck not wanting to let go. Y/n froze hearing how broken Natsu truly sounded. After sharing a surprised look with Lucy over the Dragon slayer's back, Y/n buried her own face in Natsu's scarf.

Letting her own emotions take over, she couldn't help but sniffle as she too got lost in the hug. "I'm sorry, I never want to put you through that again." Y/n said hoping Natsu knew that she truly meant it.

Natsu pulled away from the hug, placing a hand on Y/n's cheek. "You have nothing to be sorry for, it's my fault for not protecting you in the first place. But I promise from now on I will make it my personal mission that nothing bad happens to you ever again." The grin that spread across his face told Y/n that he was being completely serious. She just nodded, leaning into the hand that rested on her face, enjoying the warmth that radiated from him.

Before anyone could say anything else the sound of running mixed with clinking armor approached from behind the group. Turning to look at their two companions the group couldn't hide the smiles that overtook their faces. "Uh, why are all of you smiling like that? Happy said Y/n got hurt again." Gray said as he and Erza took in the sight before them.

Natsu and Y/n sitting extremely close together with wide smiles and tears running down their faces, Y/n also still having now dried blood smeared across her face. And Lucy sitting close to them smiling as well, like she just watched the sweetest reunion ever. "Y/n got her memories back. She remembers me." Natsu announced, unable to contain his joy.

Erza responded with a chuckle. "That's fantastic. Let's report back to the client to get our reward and then head back to the guild. We can celebrate there." She said, even if she didn't show it, Erza was also extremely happy for her friends. After all she had seen just how broken Natsu was after Y/n fell into the coma and then again after she woke up with any memory of him. The requip mage was glad to see Natsu finally smiling for real after so many months of forced smiles that never truly met his eyes.
