C4rry: You know Kiki, you've been a really good travel buddy, you know?
Kiki smiles when C4rry says this. It's been a bit since she was rescued by her, but she was still grateful for all of it. She was a bit horrified when she learned that using guns actually did kill people, but C4rry assured her that they wouldn't use them unless absolutely necessary.
Kiki: <Awww, thanks C4rry. I'm glad that I'm learning a bit more about what's..."up" there. Makes me all the more glad that I stumbled upon you and not someone else.>
C4rry: heh Don't mention it.
They both sit in silence as the campfire roars. There is something peaceful about being out at night, like the world has paused for a moment in time where you can just be yourself, and every topic is open for a friend to talk about.
C4rry: So, any Splatfests that you're looking forward to? Sorry if that's a stereotype or something, I still don't know much about how inkling work other than the basics.
Kiki seems to be a little turned off by the conversation.
Kiki: <Oh...no, that's not a problem at all. It's just...we may have to wait a while for another Splatfest to happen.>
C4rry: Really? Why, what happened?
Kiki stays silent for a long time.
C4rry: You don't have to talk if you don't want to.
Kiki turns slowly towards C4rry.
Kiki: <It was...about a few months ago. Everything was normal, for our universe. Splat games, latest fashion, rivalry against the Octarians, and so on. Then, in one of the bigger cities, they showed up.>
C4rry: They?
Kiki: <Three women, all led by this weird machine man. They declared our world theirs and that they would use us how they wanted to. Some brave inklings attempted to splatter them, but it did nothing. They began taking us all away one by one, with more and more machine men appearing as time went on. I was about to be taken by one of these men, when I just started flying.>
C4rry is stunned speechless by this.
C4rry: Dear gods. That's horrible and terrifying. I am so sorry to hear about this.
Kiki: <No, you're fine. I just hope I never see that man again after this.>
C4rry: I'll make sure of that. You know the whole guns thing. I'll use several shots from them to make sure that he never hurts you or anyone like you ever again.
Kiki is amazed at C4rry's selflessness towards her problems. She of all people didn't think that her cries would be heard by C4rry this affectionately, but she is happy that she's wrong.
Kiki: <You will?>
C4rry: I promise.
Kiki smiles.
Kiki: Thank you.
C4rry smiles back.
C4rry: Anyways, it's getting late. It's time to go to bed now. Goodnight.
Kiki: <Goodnight.>
