my car was lined up on the grid, everyone else was. this was really real. the race was starting in 20 minutes, but now it was time for the national anthem.

once i get to the front of the grid, i look for kimi, ollie and paul. but neither kimi or ollie's were there yet, so i make my way over to paul.

"are you ready?" i ask him.

"yes i think so. you?"

"i don't think ill be ready until i start the formation lap." i say, laughing weakly.

"okay, i lied. i feel the same."

"your parents are here right?"

"yeah, my mom dad and brother. same for you right?"

"yeah, well obviously kimi is here... but i don't want to let them down." i say, as kimi and ollie finally come over.

"hey guys!" ollie says, placing his arm around my shoulder before kissing the top of my head.

"how are you feeling now?" he asks me.

"nervous, but i'm excited too." i reply, smiling up at him.

"good."

it was time to get into lines for the national anthem, and i was stood between ollie and kimi with my grid kid stood in front of me.

after the national anthem, i and all the other drivers begin to walk away. me and all the other rookies were walking back when i hear lewis hamilton calling me over.

"hey angel, prepared?" he asks, walking beside me.

"yeah, i guess so. i've done everything people recommended." i reply.

"that's good to hear, im sure people have already said but don't forget to have fun yeah?"

"thanks lewis, good luck on the race."

"thanks kid, you too. and it's only the first race but you have potential."

"it means a lot, i'll see you out on track." i say, smiling at him as i reach my car and my friends walk over again.

"good luck guys." i say too them.

"good luck." they all reply, and i hug ollie for one last time.

"i pray for an easy race." paul says, before we all say goodbye and head to our own car.

"you alright? ready for the race?" mike (krack) says as i start to put my headphones in for team radio.

"yeah, aiming to get some points today for the team." i say as louisa, my trainer, handing my my helmet.

"just get familiar with the car, we want to compete for the constructors championship this year." he says.

"yes of course." i say, before he heads back to the pit wall and i climb into the car.

"radio check, radio check." jules says down team radio.

"umm yeah loud and clear jules." i reply, before taking a deep breath.

"good luck angel."

"this is really it then."

"yes, everything you have worked for. but no pressure."

"none at all." i say, smiling to myself a little.

a few minutes later, the grid was clear of people and the formation lap was beginning. thankfully, i didn't stall the car like a right idiot. it was a slow lap, well it felt like it at least. i could feel my heartbeat fastening due to nerves. i could hear all the fans exited for the season to finally begin.
