angelina's pov:
"just, dont say anything. im sorry." i say, after crossing the finish line of the sprint race.
after starting p4, my race didn't exactly go up from there. it went down. whilst going round turn 1, i had contact with daniel riccardo. thankfully, none of it was my fault, i was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
but it sent me down to p10, with a damaged car as well. i managed to raise a few positions, but overall i finished p6. not the worst position to finish, i still got points. but compared to what i could have had. it wasn't a good feeling.
i get out the car, do all the necessary checks better heading straight to my driver room, ignoring everyone i walk past. as soon as i get to my drivers room, i tske off helmet and balaclava and lie down.
i get about 20 minutes of peace and quiet, replaying the race in my head trying to find ways i could have done better, until jules comes knocking on my door.
"angel! open the door." he says.
"it's open." i reply, still staring at the ceiling.
"what are you doing? you need to go to the media pen."
"okay fine." i reply, not in the mood to argue.
"listen, it was a successful race. maybe not in the way you had hoped, but you still got some points right?"
"yeah, but i could have been in the top three." i complain whilst sliding off the table.
"well, there's still tomorrow."
"how bad is the damage?"
"it's not too bad, it will be fixed for quali."
"good, i'm sorry."
i split ways with jules, him heading to the garage whilst i head to the media pen with my pr manager florence. i end up spending 20 minutes in interviews before i could finally leave and head back to aston martin. or not, as i was stopped by lando.
"hey lando." i say, as he walks over.
"listen, don't beat yourself up over this. it's only a sprint race, and it wasn't your fault. i watched the replay, wrong place wrong time." he says, placing his arm across my shoulders.
"it was my time to prove myself, and i couldn't."
"well, it's a good thing we have another race tomorrow. and another 22 left to go this year. and at least another hundred left for you to prove yourself. okay?"
"yeah, thank you." i say, giving him a half smile.
"there we go! smiling again! your going to kill it in qualifying." he says, smiling back.
"i'll see you out on track." i say, before walking into aston martin.
"meeting time." jules says, directing me to a meeting room.
a few hours later it was time to get back into the car for qualifying. i felt a lot more pressured to finish higher up on the grid after todays performance.
"radio check." jules says once i was in the car.
"yeah, all good." i say, before taking a breath to calm myself.
"alright, you know the plan." he says.
"yeah, yeah."
"good lap angel. once again, it's looking good." jules says, as i cross the finish line for the last time in q3.
"it better be looking good, felt like a good lap." i reply, whilst slowing down.
"and that is... p4 once again! good job."
"yeah, lets try to keep this higher position in the race tomorrow." i reply.
a few minutes later, i was back into the garage, climbing out of the car, and once again jules was there to congratulate me in person, giving me a hug.
something i would say about me and jules, is that our relationship is more than a driver with their engineer. we are a lot closer, he's one of my closest friends. i can't imagine ever racing without him.
i head over to a group of engineers to have a quick recap on qualifying before it was time to go for the media pen.
"congrats on p4 once again, hopefully some good points for the team tomorrow?" florence says as we walk to the media pen.
"yeah definitely." i say, before taking a sip of water.
"so, this result must feel refreshing after earliers race." the first interviewer says.
"yeah uhm definitely. it was like i said disappointing earlier, but coming back to p4 definitely gave the reassurance that i can get some good points for the team tomorrow."
"was the car damage bad? was it a struggle for the team to fix it?"
"it was definitely not the best thing for the team having to work so quickly to fix the car. and i'm thankful for everyone that it was fixed in time for qualifying." i reply.
"how are you going to prepare for tomorrows race now that your starting in p4?"
"well, it's important to get a good nights sleep before a big event, something i try to do every night at a race weekend. and always have something good to eat because that's always important."
i answer a few more questions before moving onto the rest of the interviews for the day. before i could go back to the garage, i had more more interview with natalie pinkham which would be filmed live.
once i get there, lando was having an interview with her still so i wait off at the side a little until it was my time.
as it was time to swap drivers he congratulates me as i take his seat. i answer a few questions, before realising lando was watching.
"are you watching me?" i shout.
"no!" he replies
"liar!"
"sorry about that." i say, returning back to the interview.
"it seems like you have made some good friends already with other drivers on the grid." natalie says.
"yeah definitely, i would say im friends either way a lot of drivers on the grid. i'll always be closest with my brother of course, and i was already friends with oscar and logan, and of course i knew lance from the time i spent in aston martin. but i've definitely become friends with max and lando. lando has been very helpful around the paddock."
i answer a few more questions before it was time for another driver to have an interview. thankfully, i had nothing left to do today, so i head back to the hotel to get some very needed rest.
