    Holding the Death Note before her, (Y/N) couldn't stop the rather victory-stricken grin that crossed her lips. Ryuk watched such a victory flicker through her (E/C) eyes, and his raspy chuckle soon filled the walls of her room.

"I'm proud of you, Ryuk," she then murmured as she set the Death Note down.

"You flatter me."

"Here," she tossed a shiny, red apple towards him that he easily caught between his two hands, even lunging forwards to grab it. "For your efforts, and for going through with your end of our deal. This is me upholding my end, with plenty more apples on the way if you continue to help me."

"You know," Ryuk munched on his apple before completely swallowing the core. "I think I like you more than Light."

"Naturally."

    "But, I have to say, I'm impressed you were able to manipulate the rules of the Death Note into such a grey area," Ryuk continued as he sat down on the edge of her bed, his elbows resting against his knees. "To think that all I had to do was plug my ears so that Light's question was turned into a statement. You're quite the dangerous human, aren't you? And considering I've been around the one known as Kira, that's saying something, hehe."

    "It's a gift of mine, really," (Y/N) hummed as she tapped her finger against the arm of her chair.

    To manipulate people...

    To get exactly what you want out of them...

    Light and I are more alike than not in that aspect, so it's only natural it would come so easily.

    "Now, all that's left to do is find a way to meet Misa without Light or Mogi knowing..." she murmured, cupping her chin and crossing her leg whilst thinking about how L assigned Mogi to tail Light which inevitably allowed for them to uncover Misa's identity as the second Kira. "After all, if they did find out, it would make everything I'm trying to do worthless. And considering that Rem doesn't want Misa to forget about her, I have no choice but to go around the fact that I can't just take her Death Note. I've already tried that once."

"Ooh, seems someone isn't too happy about that," Ryuk cackled, making (Y/N) shoot him a rather bitter glare.

    She then exhaled.

    He is right, though—I'm not happy about that.

    She drummed her fingers in a rather agitated manner as her thoughts whirred. If she had been brought into the anime prior to the plot, she could have found the man fated to kill Misa and stop him instead of Gelus writing his name in the Death Note. If that had happened, Misa could have avoided her descent into being the second Kira and Rem would have avoided falling for her that would inevitably lead to her own death at Light's plans.

    Both would have lived.

    And both would have been free from the restraints of their fate, but it wasn't allowed since (Y/N) hadn't been there to derail it.

    She exhaled again.

    It's really fucking annoying.

    "(Y/N)," a familiar voice called out to her, her head turning to see that Rem had snuck into her house without her knowing—a rather easy task considering the Shinigami easily walked through solid walls like it was nothing. "It seems that Misa has found Kira."

    "Yes... you were there when she did," (Y/N) mused as she picked at her nails.

    "You are not concerned?"

    "Oh, she definitely is," Ryuk snickered, ignoring the second glare she threw his way that night.

    "Did she say what she was going to do to try and make contact with Kira?" (Y/N) turned back to Rem, completely ignoring Ryuk now that he had effectively gotten on her nerves—something that surprised her, if she were being honest. "Is she going straight to his address, or is she going to try and speak to him tomorrow at To-Oh?"

    "She found his address, yes, but... I advised her that it would be better if she met him at the college since it would look more natural," Rem stated, her one yellow eye flickering in the soft lighting.

    "I'm sure you did," the girl smirked.

    Okay.

    Rem really is coming in clutch here.

    If she hadn't goaded Misa into keeping her away from Light's house, then Mogi would have seen her and it would be all down hill from there.

    Tomorrow, though...

    When she sees I have no life span and Light does... she'll think she was mistaken.

    She would then approach me.

    And considering L is only focusing his investigation on Light being Kira, it's safe to say that Misa approaching me compared to her approaching Light would be better.

    "So, what's your plan?" Ryuk snapped (Y/N) out of her somewhat trance-like state.

    "Well, from looking it up online, Misa will be shooting at To-Oh for a week," she stated with a wave of her hand to enunciate her point, her lips twitching upward into a small smile. "That means six more days. Tomorrow she will most definitely try to come into contact with Light, which means she will come into contact with me. And considering Mogi is tailing Light, he won't follow me and Misa when we separate to talk alone. When that happens, I'm going to tell her that I know she is the second Kira, but I want her to stay out of the way."

"Do you think she will listen to you?" Rem questioned, her bony frame contorting.

"Who knows?" She shrugged. "But I'm counting on the fact that she does."

"Hehe, isn't she just an amusing human, Rem?" Ryuk commented as he scratched at his black shock of hair, an eerie grin stretching across his lips that showcased his jagged teeth. "I think I like her more than Light at this point—at least in terms of entertainment. She's always one step ahead. Almost like she can see the future or something."

(Y/N) stared at him.

Then she gave a short chuckle.

"Yeah," she smiled with a tilt of her head. "Almost."
